1200 Mile Service Finally Done!

It was a painful 6 weeks but I finally got the break in service done. Had a chance to finally let her loose and wow, this is one incredible machine. Pulls so hard all the way to redline. Also got a few things coded including active sound off (good riddance). Best. Car. Purchase. Ever.

Congrats. Going in for mine later this week. Did they activate Launch Control? I assume you did the coding yourself not the dealer.

Thanks...yes, launch control activated. My sales guy helped me code a few things at the dealer. Def want to learn myself but he did me a favor.

My car is also a manual so I am not sure if there is such thing as launch control on a manual. Needless to say though, the car is a true beauty and it runs like an untamed beast. I'm still afraid to take off traction control on the open road haha.
It feels the same to me power wise...I have heard that maybe the ecu gets retuned, etc...but I am not buying that. Enjoy it!!

Wow, that's nice for your sales guy to do it since its not exactly a BMW sanctioned thing. Although my sales guy referred me to a local guy that they refer all of their customers to and when he moved and I told him I was doing it by a remote guy he asked me for his contact info so he could give it out.

I'm definitely getting used to iDrive and that has taken time, but I need to learn more. I also finally programmed my M1 and M2 settings for how I want them. But M2 setting I won't be using much because its DSC off MDM mode on ALL SPORT PLUS = SCARY!!!
One thing I recently learned was to create multiple profiles. If I'm commuting I have a profile where M1 and M2 always have DSC on. Then I have a sport profile where the interior lights change to white and the M1 and M2 both have DSC manual and off. I program these profile to memory buttons. Pretty cool way to switch it up once and awhile. BTW you can copy your profile to a USB and copy it back it to duplicate profiles so you don;t have to reprogram all your other presets.

Congratulations! Break-in is always hard (less so in this car than my other Ms because of the low-down torque, but...), and when you finally don't have to worry about it...bliss.

Took mine in for 1,200 mile service on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the car is still at the dealer due to an issue with the radio reception. Apparently, this issue is something that hasn't been seen before and they are trying to figure out how to fix it.

I'm currently at 400 miles, I will probably get the break-in service done before 1200 miles because I don't want to wait that long!

Can't wait!

I doubt that a dealership would do a 1200 mile break-in service on your M unless it had mileage very close to 1200 miles (or more).

They usually are not sticklers with that. Not everyone can bring it in with exactly 1200. Some have had it done with around 800 miles. Perhaps less.

Thats a great idea... I didn't think of the profile use in that way. Currently my M1 is all sport and M2 is efficient. I was wanting a way to go sport plus with the RPM hud whenever I want. Didn't even think of multiple profiles. Thanks!

Just got it done this morning...

Oil and filter change
gasket ring
screw plugs
windshield washer fluid
saf-xj (?)
multi-point inspection

I assume Launch Control is now enabled because they said they would be 'plugging' it in. I'll verify it in a few days, since I've heard it needs to adapt.

P.s. Was talking to a 'Genius' who said if you use LC more than three times it will void your warranty. I know they can check how many times through the ECU, but three times?! That's hard to believe. #cmonman

Gah, all these rumors!

The break-in service installs the ///M JATO in the trunk to help with launch control.

Pro Tip: don't try jumps with TC off

The radio antenna is built into the rear windscreen. Had this issue on my previously owned F30 and the windscreen had to be replaced because of this issue. The contacts are directly behind the rear break light on the rear windscreen. Fortunately Insurance covered the replacement. Good luck.

They said they are replacing the antenna - which I take as the shark fin; problem is with the Sat radio.
