Need suggestions and opinions.
Debating on a the single midpipe or resonated equal length midpipe by active autowerks. Wanting to go catless route but wondering if I should get resonated downpipes. If I do I'm deciding on keeping the stock midpipe ? Need some input here.
I currently have the zcp model for f80 and I've heard catless downpipe will sound too raspy, I'm trying to go for a deeper tone so I have a few options.
Ar resonated catless DP + zcp exhaust
aa single midpipe + ar resonated + zcp exhaust
Aa equal length midpipe + Vrsf or ssr downpipe + zcp.
Does anybody have these setups and wouldn't mind sharing clips of how your car sounds ? If anybody can also chime in on their experiences with your catless downpipes and suggest brands for me.

If you like the deep sounds stay away from EL and get a single midpipe. If you like a deep growl the AA Signature is a 3.5in kit from the cats all the way back.

Unless you race maybe keep your stock cats so you can pass inspection.

If you're going to go catless you definitely want to get resonated dp's or else it'll be really raspy. I don't really care for the EL midpipe and think they're overpriced so I'd say the AA single mid + resonated dp's and stock muffler would be the best sounding option you listed in my opinion. However if you're worried about the car smelling since it'd completely catless you could always get high flow dp's. That's what I did and paired it with an AA single mid and think the car sounds pretty good

I plan on running a stage 2 tune do you think it will damage the cats on the high flow ?

+1 on no probs with Sport Cats and BM ST2 or E85. Just don't crank up burbles past 5 aggression (as per PTF). You can do ST2 with stock cats just fine.

Another
+1
for ARM Resonated DPs. Low price, good quality. Ask Mike@X-PH for his best price.

Evolution Racewerks Hi-Flows, black ceramic coated. Fits great, works great! Passenger footwell stays cooler too.

With so many downpipe / midpipe / axle-back combinations, its impossible to say which one sounds the best.

As TopJimmy , it all comes down to the sound you are going after. Single midpipe with an aftermarket exhaust is a very safe choice, it works with stock and catless downpipes

If you dont like the turbo sound, get the equal length. Just make sure you dont use catless w/ non res mid and aftermarket exhaust or stock downpipe with resonated EL midpipe

Another nice deep combo without rasp are ARM Resonated DPs into the AA Single Mid (ask for the resonated extensions) into a Remus (or similar) center-can rear section. This way you get catless power, double resonators to calm the pops, and the quad outlets in use. Only downside of de-cat is the egg stink if u run gas, but running E85 should smell more like grape/cherry moonshine behind you.

Mike what do you prefer with the stock dps and stock ZCP exhaust, the El or single mp?

What’s difference in sound between the two ?

I'm really on the fence as well here guys. I'm fine with the sound of the stock exhaust, I don't want anything louder. I'm looking for max performance at close to current volume levels and and no CEL.

Non-res equal length sound is more unique

Single mid is deeper tone than Equal mid. I like the loud and deep race car sounds, so my burbles are turned off.

Where in NC?

I’m in Raleigh and just got the non resonated equal length mid pipe and have stock down pipes and zcp rear section.

I'm in Charlotte.

How is the sound and overall volume with that setup? That's one I've considered but was wondering if it would be louder. Do you have down pipes?

If you don't want louder just keep the stock exhaust and cats since they flow really good as-is, and you won't get the CEL (swapping cats for inspection sucks). Put your money in a 4-pin crank hub fix with CBC, take out charcoal filters from stock intakes, and go Bootmod3 Stage2 E30. That's max perf with no CEL.

Bolt-ons barely add any power...

Jimmy says "protect yo hub"! Then you're good till clutch(es) slip.

OEM cats are not that restrictive. They are a little but not much. It's when you bolt on bigger turbos that the restriction would matter more.

It is about the same or maybe a tad louder in lower rpms. It is a good bit louder at higher rpms. 4 being stock, it’s a 4.5 low rpms and maybe a 6 once you get higher in the rpms. The sound is way better than stock IMO.

Edit: I’m on stock down pipes, no tune, or other performance mods other than removing the burbles.
