I'm not delusional in thinking the M4 is the greatest car in the world.. but if all these magazines "hate" it so much.. why do they keep using it as a benchmark for all other sport/luxury cars?
there are certain stats you can't argue against, and the Camaro is a very capable car but to think these magazines don't benefit from praising an American car vs. a German counterpart would be naive

However, I would bet money that the differences between the two cars is overblown, as Lieberman is pretty much a known BMW hater. Remember that in a previous head to head of the M235i and the CLA45, the 2 Series was the obvious winner throughout the test, but instead of declaring it the winner, he trotted out the WRX at the end (he's a multiple WRX owner). This guy doesn't like BMWs and his opinions are spreading like a cancer at Motor Trend.

Don't you hate it when magazines get their facts wrong. M4 base price: $65,700 even with destination it's $66,625 NOT $69,000. Now let's look at their claimed price as built of $81,045:
BASE MSRP$65,700 Sakhir Orange Metallic$550 Cloth/Leather combination Carbonstructure Anthracite/Black$0 Carbon Fiber Interior Trim with Black Chrome highlight$0 Lighting Package$1,900 19" Light Alloy Wheel Double-Spoke Style437 M with Mixed Performance Tires$1,200 M Carbon Ceramic Brakes$8,150 Manual Transmission$0 Enhanced USB and Bluetooth plus Smartphone Integration$350 Power rear sunshade$350 Destination & Handling:$995 Total MSRP as Built$79,195 I got my M4 for $66,880 ED MSRP (no negotiating) and besides CCBs my car has way more options than theirs, who the hell put your car together MT? lol

Stop testing these cars with incompetent drivers, seriously.
First, it's a 6MT F82 and the way it cuts power off the line tells me the driver is just dumping the clutch with everything set in Sport+. It seems like traction is kicking in and slowing the car down. Second, stop comparing a FULLY loaded "$80k plus" M3/M4 and compare a bare bones one just like the Camaro. Put it in Sport, leave the suspension and steering in Comfort, and MODULATE the throttle. They are testing in the fucking desert, and the tires should be warmed up. I am pretty sure these tests can be manipulated just like the Fifth Gear test of the RC-F vs. M4 and the M4 loses BAD to the RC-F. "Yeah, our low optioned Camaro is such a great buy compared to this slow $80k dollar car". Stop adding technological options on a performance car and comparing it to a bare bones pony-car, then proceeding to complain about price. Fortunately, BMW does not need to pay to advertise their car, hence everyone always benchmarks the M3/M4 against all these other performance cars.

So panties don't get bunched too much, I direct you to this thread, specifically post #117 courtesy of myzmak where comparison results favor the M3/4 more than not. This list should probably be updated to include a big fat loss for the M4 by the boys at MT.
