You should probably reserved your final judgment for when they unveil the final production styling, with the wide fenders it could really change the caracter of the car. Only thing I'm not feeling are the tail lights, but we'll see how they fit once the car is reveilled!

I like both designs. It's nice that the W205 will be receiving larger front and rear fender flares. But obviously, personal taste varies.

I'm going to wait until the official reveal before making any final determinations.

I really like the front end of the F80/F82. Rear is pretty bland though. It needs the M Performance diffuser.

510 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque is a lot. The F80/F82 is going to have its hands full.

“The new C63 will have traction like no other RWD car,” a Mercedes insider told Wheels.

Key to the new car’s boosted traction is a heavily reworked version of AMG’s traditional steel suspension set-up, which gets unique track widths and lower ride height, and firmer springs and dampers.

+1 I really like both cars; the F8x and the C63.

-I'm a manual guy and would order my F80 m3 in 6mt, but the w205 is very compelling as a total package (this would be my DD).

-I prefer the CF roof to the pano roof.

-The v8 with all that power should be a beast and sound better (subjective, even though I don't mind the F8x sound).

-The addition of the rear fender flares really helps the c63's case, IMO. The lack of rear FF's was my biggest gripe with the new w205 design.

I am really looking forward to comparison tests and test drives of both! Never driven a c63 of any generation before.

*edit: Oh and I believe the merc has ventilated seats in which I am a fan (no pun intended).

Hope so... but look at the rear wheels in the picture. I don't car how much you re-work the suspension, you need actual rubber on the road too

I'm excited for the new C63. I hope it is killer... it will make BMW really step up with the competition package version of the M3/4.

True! That's just a render though.

Test mules have been spied with 265-section rears and 245 fronts.

Those mules have looked pretty quick scurrying about on the 'ring, too.

And 516 lb-ft of torque?
Looks like the HP and torque numbers released through the Australian press are for the S model. Its likely the non-S model will have slightly lower numbers -- but still a straight line monster. Could also be a track beast -- we'll just have to wait and see.

That rear shot of that render looks wicked

No doubt in my mind the engine will be a beast for sure. Mercedes played their cards right by adding wide rear fenders and keeping it RWD.

My only concern is the lack of a 6MT. Which, unfortunately, is a deal breaker for me.

Seems like the 510PS/700Nn are for the base W205 C63 ... found also here:
http://paultan.org/2014/09/19/merced...510-hp-700-nm/
... and that we than could expect an C63S with ~ 540PS, with the usual 30PS AMG gap between base and S and below the base E63 AMG !?

35xx -36xx...... The old one was all steel so really easy for them to drop a ton of weight . If they hit their weight target it will obliterate the M4 in a straight line, hell it will have a better power to weight than the M6.

Agreed... if the weight is that low. I thought they were saying a couple of hundred pounds less and the outgoing car is around 4,000lbs. I was thinking the new car would be 3,800ish.

Regardless, if they can get the power to the ground, this car will be as fast as almost anything out there in a straight line. The MCT is the only let down in my view. I didn't like it on my C63 and it will be the achilles heel of this car too unless they do something to fix that.

The W204 LCI was actually 38xx so ditching the steel will easily get to at least 36xx .

Maybe... I don't recall seeing many W204 below 3,900+ in real life. Reports on MBWorld are showing LCI cars north of 3,920 with some approaching 4,000 depending on options and fluid.

Regardless, we will need to wait and see. I would also bet that MB's figures will prove slightly optimistic versus real life similar to BMW. The car will be a monster no matter what given the power levels. Hopefully it won't go into limp mode after 15 minutes on the track like my 2012 did.

Indeed! I'd be damn near sold if this were true! Sadly, I just don't see it happening; I think it'll still be the MCT like in the E63.

It's great though that the competition is so stiff! Makes for better all-around products from every brand.

This F80 vs C63 decision will be tough for sure

You're absolutely right - options make a big difference.

My '13 C63 sedan weighed in at around 3,820 lbs.

The renders improve some of the problems with the regular c class.....hopefully some of that carries over.

While I've got the M3 on order.....with the current cf roof delay one never knows what may happen

The pull of the Dark Side is strong.

In all seriousness, you can't go wrong with either car. The new M3 and M4 are both brilliant. I was a big fan of the E9X but the F8X is in another league. It's going to be a tough decision between the F80 and W205.
