Anyone running BMW Star Cup2 connects (G80 version) on the F80 with 763M wheels?

Any issues with slightly wider front (275 vs 265)?
Seems there should be no issues given that this version of the 275 tire isn’t as wide as usual.

Especially curious about HPDE/track experience, but also on the street.

I have - TLDR:

- Fronts fit fine (very square, no bulge), do not run spacers or you'll rub
- Definitely a compromise/do-it-all tire with DE days in mind, arrive & drive
- There are better dedicated street tires and dedicated track tires
- Great grip on track but after the first 10-15 heat cycles they become seat time tires
- They do not like hot pressures over 36 psi, I target 34 hot

I won't be running them again as I have multiple wheel sets and am running 285 square now. I'll eventually throw on G80 PS4S for wet track days. For the occasional track day they're great but they do heat cycle out and long street trips is a big contributor to that. Perfect for like "5 events a year with street use in between" kind of situation.

I should have said, I’ve been running the older BMW star Cup2s (M4 gts) for the last 3 years. They last about a year (spring to fall plus about 3-4 track days).

The Connect version seems really similar based on what you described.
I also quickly figured on the track they are unstable and greasy if I let the pressure get too high during a session (38+). I keep ‘em at 34-36 psi they seem quite happy then. I am hoping the Connects really do last a little longer.

I would probably expect a track day or two more out of the connects tbh. They're still serviceable now after all the heat cycles I've put on them but they require a lot more heat management than before and aren't going to be a PB tire. In terms of wear, my fronts have worn around 1.5x the rate of my rears based on my driving style (major reason why I'm going square).

What’s rims, sizes and offset are you running, and what’s tires? I’m thinking about square set too. In looking at 513 wheels 18x10.5 46 offset what’s your thoughts?

Good timing - I just posted in this thread. Bunch of different options for running square. I'm running 18x10.5et36 which requires a spacer in front.

Do these Cup 2 Connects have enough tread

Since you guys use Cup 2, wanted to get your opinion. Do my tires (Cup 2 Connect) have enough tread left? Did 4 track days in novice solo groups (often getting stuck behind slow traffic). So about 15-16 heat cycles if you count the slow run groups. Its on a G82 6MT. Only probably 2000 street miles on them or less. Are they good for one more? How do you guys tell when they are worn out - just by the wear bars?

Yeah keep going on them, but you need more camber.

My spec
Tire: CUP2 * (Connect, GTS)
Camber: -3.0F, -2.0R
Tow: 0F, 0R
Longevity: 6 track days, ±25sessions, ±15k street miles

Here's my tire wear out back. I think I torched them by being over-inflated for a session. Fronts are 50%, even wear.

Thanks for the quick reply. I do actually have -3.0 camber on the front with vorshlag plates, will get it checked to make sure it still is that. Toe is 0.12, will try to get less. And wow your wear pattern is crazy, cords in the middle with a ton of tread on the sides. What should I look for on my tires in terms of more wear? Just keep going until I see cords? I drive on these tires to the track, so want to be have enough tread to make it back as well. I do bring 1 spare wheel+tire.

That's interesting wear given your camber. Maybe the tread is different from outside to inside and thus they wear differently.

I'm on regular connect cup 2s , I got them slightly used for a decent price but don't think I will be buying them new. Don't think they have the value of say RS4.

My fronts are torn up like that at the center rib as well. Was running 34-36 hot all last season and they were wearing evenly except that center rib got chewed thru at -2.0 camber.

But honestly I think heat cycles matter more here - you’ve def got at least a day in terms of rubber left, but it’s unlikely to be your fastest day as the Cup2s are probably past their grippiest heat cycles.
