It is possible to have Fullscreen but on NBTEvo_R version ENET cable is required.

Are there any issues with the BMW side of the infotainment system if you do the CarPlay full screen? Can you switch back and forth?

Only CarPlay will be full screen. All else can work with split screen if you choose to.

Big thanks to kubax86 for getting fullscreen CarPlay on my car. Between that and the iOS 13 improvements, it looks great and is more useable. It was also very easy to install from a Windows laptop (I had some challenges trying to get it to work from a virtual Windows machine). Overall, money well spent.

Thank you kubax86.

He updated my NBT and installed the full screen patch. Really easy and quick process. Walked me through the entire process in getting the car ready for him to remote in and do his magic.

I highly recommend him for any coding or flashing needs.

A big thanks to kubax86 !!!

He did my 330e (and 5 series) CarPlay activation + full screen + video in motion.

I was in version P, did it with ENET cable, 10 min job, and everything is working fine. (and 10 times better with iOS 13).

So took car to service center today and they said they'll look at it but may take some time blah blah blah and depending on the issue either a new head unit may be needed. The SA said they charge to update to the latest version...is this expected? I told them my iDrive was freezing and crashing as everyone on this thread has stated to get theirs updated. Dropping of car next week so they can also provide loaner. Anyone know how long it takes for them to update iDrive?

Current version is a evo_H; early 2017 build...

I told them that my idrive would freeze w/ and w/o CarPlay and the only way to unfreeze was to power down the car for a few minutes. I mentioned that there is a newer nbt_evo which may resolve this. They then just updated for free. But I'm under warranty and also have a maintenance warranty .. not sure if that's the reason they updated for free.

If u are under warranty no worries. But I had my car in for an iDrive freeze issue and they diagnosed it. I was told there is some recall on software which is solved by a simple software upgrade but not sure which exact models are effected. Mine went in for what I thought was that software issue but I ended up getting a entire new head unit after 5 days, covered under my factory warranty.

kubax86 hooked me up yesterday with an idrive update + full screen car play. Was smooth sailing the entire time and the dude is a professional. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to do this.

One thing I did notice is that the sound is different coming from car play vs native idrive when listening to SiriusXM. Anyone else notice this?

For the record - another happy customer. I ended up needing an enet cable, but no issues outside of that.

FWIW - the "FeatureInstaller" app that's used gets flagged by AV as a trojan. I'm generally suspicious of such things (I'm a software guy), but I think it gets flagged that way because it touches the network and downloads instructions from some central server.

Either way, I set up a new virtual machine under parallels to run this from, and killed two birds - used my mac to run the app (it's windows only) and did it from a blank throw-away machine. Worked well.
