Friends have argued that switching from an A7 to an M3 was a downgrade...

...but you need to compare what's comparable. What I lost in luxury and comfort, I gained in sheer happiness.

BMW had previously burned me with a very unreliable Z4 35is (electronics), but I just missed the Bavarian feeling too much. After an Audi S5 and an A7, I was back on the market for an M3, lamenting that the G80 looks like a boar from the front... and this pretty F80 showed up.

Only one previous and meticulous owner, M Performance alcantara wheel, HUD, all dressed. The only update I made is mounting a subtle front lip, which I believe BMW should have added from the start, it does make a visual difference.

What an absolute pleasure to drive.

(Edit: obviously I don't know how to use this forum properly yet and the photos look abysmal - the hood gaps are normal, aliased images are making the black zones looks larger)

Agree with NickyC this switch was the opposite of a downgrade!

Interesting progression in cars, though, but you landed in a great place! Enjoy your f80. It’s a fun learning curve

Very diff cars but I agree. Much prefer driving my f80 to the RS in our garage! But all our friends prefer the Audi’s comfort and general lack of drama

This garage was probably a perfect fit for 2 cars in the 80’s lol. Geez what a tight squeeze! Beautiful cars though!
