So aside from looking like the BMW design team has an unhealthy kink for anthropomorphic beavers, they put donk size wheels covered in a rubber band on the rear of a performance sports car.
This just gets better and better!

In what world does a sports sedan need 21 inch wheels, ever? Looking like 20s are needed in the fronts for CCBs, but a 25 side profile in the rear is ridiculous. They're going to overcompensate with underdamped shocks again to make this tolerable on the street. Stiff and floaty.

911's have 21" rear tires. It'll be fine.

Exactly... and 911s are tiny compared to G8x M3/M4s. People forget that these new M cars are big. They are almost as long as an M8 and actually have a slightly longer wheelbase than the M8 so the 20/21” rims won’t look too ridiculous.
With that said, I’d get 20s at all 4 corners if I were to run aftermarket rims/tires - probably 295/30/20F and 305/30/20 R. |

Rear tires are 425 a piece on tire rack. Star spec prob 450 or so. Take it easy on the throttle 😎

I agree with the "rubber band" statements.
Yes, the 911 GT RS cars have 21" wheels in the rear. But the 911's tire size is what gives it it's character. 325/30/21 has a significantly larger side wall than a 295/25/21. |

Was I reading the same thing as you guys? I see standard size is 18" front and 19" rear. Competition is 19" front and 20" rear.
Wheels / Tires / Brakes: Newly designed forged M light-alloy wheels 18-inches front and 19-inches rear. Non-runflat performance tires sized 275/40ZR18 front and 285/35ZR19 rear complete the standard package. Competition models feature 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels with 275/35ZR19 and 285/30ZR20 non-runflat performance tires.

I'd say these are not even "optional" per se, they will likely need to be bought after the fact as all other M-Performance parts. Base wheels are 18/19. Optional are different 19/20 combos of styles and colors.

It looks like shit.
Sorry, not familiar with EU requirements and did not see any explanation for their presence in any of the articles yet. Why is it missing from the F80? What changed? Why is it not on the M4? Please enlighten us. |

The Europeans, in their quest to ruin all the good things in the world, have introduced legislation that forces those little wings. The M8 I think already had that. It's some hogwash that the tire has to be completely covered from the top of the car PS: I'm European |

Hmm I think I'm confused.
I know that if you have bigger front brakes, you would need a bigger size up front, but this is the opposite. Is this a purely aesthetic thing to have a bigger wheel in the rear? I mean that single piston caliper wouldn't be the cause of clearance issues. |
