Looks better all in carbon. Anyone know why it would be better painted?
You better not let them paint the underside lol. The weave looks too good to be painted!
I'll look for a different place not a fan of pushy people
I agree with you the underside is way to nice to cover up
Where are you located?
Hazlet NJ
Central close to the shore
If you're willing to make the drive up north to fair lawn, autocoutore does great work. If they don't do paintwork, I'm sure they can recommend another reputable shop that does.

Yeah I heard about the shop
If I don't find some place this week I am going to have to go up there
Only problem is It's a little over an hour away so can't really drop the car off and leave

Sorry for the bad pictures it's pouring outside
I just picked up the hood and I couldn't wait to install it
Took me about 35-40 min it would have been a lot quicker if I did it with another person
Install was straight forward you will lose the most time adjusting the hood
Here are some before and after
Also anyone looking for an alpine white OEM hood in excellent condition let me know

congrats on the hood!

for the quote was that just for the hood, or was there any blending to fenders/bumper included? how happy were you with the results?

my quote was over 2k for the whole front, which seems a bit outrageous, but i do have an individual color, which may be tougher to match.

700$ for just the top of the hood
He said he would be able to paint match it
He used a tool to read the color first and than he had me come out another day for him to check paint samples against the fenders
After that he painted the hood
I can't tell the difference
It looks exactly the same as the fenders and bumper
I brought the hood to him and took it home so that price was just to paint
Hope it helps

Thinking about getting the GTS hood.. any future problems with open hood vent during the rain.. water leading to the motor?

The hood vent is located right above and behind the carbon engine brace not over the actual motor (see picture)
As far as any issues in the future not sure about that but I doubt that BMW would not have done extensive trials on this
Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in

i've unwillingly been in torrential downpours with my 2M hood and no issues. even went so far as to cover the vent when i washed the car but since haven't bothered.

Did anyone confirm if the CS hood is the same as GTS? Few posts back in this thread there was extensive discussion on CS being a plastic top reinforced with CF vs a GTS which is full CF. Can anyone confirm? What is the part# to order for the GTS hood and the supporting hardware?

Thanks.

I’m looking to get the 2m replica gts hood for weight savings, but someone told me it’s actually heavier than oem aluminium. Is that true?
