Well, the pixel density of the new white climate display appears higher than the older style. And it matches the ///M instrument cluster! I think it's a win.

there is definitely some reshaping around the center buttons. Also, the chrome sits flush with the trim piece vs. being an indented on the black trim.

If anybody with a '16 on order wants to swap for gloss black '15 trim, PM me. Contrary to most members here, I like the chrome highlights.

Probably sounds silly I realize, but in the long term the chrome accents will be much easier to clean due to not having that indent.

Sorry if this has already been asked before but do we know if the m4 will get the LED tail lights or will they be delayed until MY17?

M4 taillights won't change for MY2016. They'll likely change for MY2018.

That would be counter to the cycle of every BMW in recent memory.

E92 as an example:
MY2007 -1st model year
MY2008
MY2009
MY2010
MY2011 LCI
MY2012 LCI
MY2013 LCI

F32/F82:

MY2015
MY2016
MY2017
MY2018 LCI
MY2019 LCI
MY2020 LCI - EOP pretty much confirmed for June 2020.

that's a fair point. somehow it feels much longer since M4's introduction. which means my frustration has been misplaced - instead of thinking the M4 was left out of LCI, it's simply not due for one just yet.

And the F30 was?
MY2012 -1st model year
MY2013
MY2014
MY2015
MY2016 LCI

Very interesting. This would put M4 LCI at MY2018, not MY2017 like many have suggested.

(This is probably obvious to the vets here but I'm relatively new to bimmers).

Historically did the M3 always receive LCI when the normal 3 series did as well?

You got it. Yes, the M3 coupe/sedan has been on the same LCI cycle as the standard series cars, for as long as I can remember.

I think a lot of people get confused because there is only (normally?) one model year gap between the sedan/coupe. This time there was 2, so it seems like the coupe has been around longer. We got full introduction to the F3x platform in late 2011, so the idea/design of the coupe has been in our heads for a long time. So it's hard to think (but true) that we'll see the LCI for the coupe a full 6 years after we first got our eyes on the platform.

LCI started happening after 4 model years with the E92. Before that it was 3 model years on average (the E90 was 3 model years). Now, the LCI in calendar years have been consistently for most of the last 20 years at about 3.5 years cycles.

What BMW is doing is changing the production duration of a model year from a full 12 months to either 6-, 10-, or as long as 18 months on certain models.

That is where the confusion of the LCI release is coming from.

The BMW.de M4 convertible configurator has been updated with the interior LCI bits.

Correct, but competition is nipping at the BMW's heals. They need to accelerate their schedule.

I think the chrome accent gives a nice contrast, specially around the left/right AC vents.

BMW has had intense competition for over a decade. Moving LCI up even one year could cost hundreds of millions. The only time I remember that happening was with the 9th-gen Honda Civic, which moved up the refresh by one year. This was mainly due to the poor reviews and unfavorable comparisons to the competition as well as the previous generation. Neither of which really apply to the F3x.

I'll swap you my non-Chrome/black CF trim for your chrome CF trim. So long as the trim finishing color on MY 2016 cars is black chrome, it'll be an easy swap
