The weight reduction is an interesting factor because further down the line (Not tomorrow) there could be additional models under the GTS or CSL designation which are certainly under discussion because of the advancement of CFRP.
So as always this journey will be...interesting.

But there must be the establishment period first and foremost.
But what you can take from this is that for the competition , adding a CFRP roof like the M3 E92 adds extra cost, look at the M4 and M3? They have completely re-written the rules here in terms of advancement of lightweight technology.

A new era has begun under BMWi and today so it begins for BMW M.
In 2015 it begins for BMW. Which shows how exciting the future will be for all BMW brands.

Welcome to the Carbon Age.

add in two passengers and their luggage and you will be at 3800!

One other thought in all this. Any hints on pricing? A lot of what could be very expensive tech in here.

Per BMW US website: E92 M3 unladen weight 3704.

So the M4 should come in at about 3,500 lbs on the US site.

I see what they did to get the 3,300 figure. Many owners have weighed their E92's at about 3,500 lbs. So if it has reduced by 80 kg or 196 lbs, then 3,300 lbs makes sense.
80kg is 176lbs so the weight on the us site should be 3528. I think thas right in line with conservative expectations

From my conversations at Pebble Beach during the unveiling of the M4 Concept, BMW is trying its best to hold pricing close to the outgoing M3, albeit with adjustments made to reflect additional standard equipment that the F80 M3 and F82 M4 will come with.

Unladen weight will come in ~3,500 lbs, using numbers in press release.

Looks like the majority of everyone's guesses where spot on.

BMW site listed E92 unladen at 3,704 lbs, owners routinely weighed their cars around 3,500 lbs.

Looks like they dropped about ~100 lbs off the 435i unladen 3,610 lbs. Sounds just about right when you add up the weight savings from carbon parts.

I'll be patient and wait for a big pay raise or for the M3's to start turning up as CPO's. In time...

This is going to be a tuners dream (by comparison) to the e90/e92. Turbo cars offer lots of developing and testing... Surely the intercooler, exhaust and tunes will be at the top of the list.

And call me crazy but the body roll and responsiveness from that video... I don't think a suspension upgrade will be half as necessary as before!

The 369lb-ft of torque is the same rating as the overboost rating of the 1M engine.

Is this some kind of mechanical limitation somewhere? It is too... coincidental.
