M-Performance Exhaust in 'Efficient' mode?

Hi,
Am wanting to get the MPE on a competition pack M4.

I was wondering if the MPE is as quiet and 'similar' to the ZCP exhaust in Efficient mode? Understand it is much louder in S/SP mode. But have not heard it in Efficient mode?

Can anyone with experience with stock ZCP exhaust who has upgraded to the MPE care to comment and offer insight?

Thanks

D

Danny

Are you sure that’s the best option given all the reports of the MPE welds cracking and not being covered outside warranty?

Ahhhhaa, this is something that i did not know! Will look into this.. The exhaust will be purchased new however, from either BMW or SouthernBM... Im sure it will have a warranty if its a 'New' purchase. However, i will look into this.

is it a competition pack - if so you could look at aa or remus midpipe with standard ZCP exhaust - still a pretty good sound for literally a quarter of the price of MPE, quiet in efficient but nice and loud in sport with cracks and pops etc

I have a F80 M3 Competition Pack. The MPE is quite similar to ZCP exhaust in efficient mode. I have catless downpipes and find that MPE with valves closed is pretty quiet even with the windows down.

I say this because the sound insulation is pretty good and the volume you hear is not a true reflection of what you hear on the outside.

The start up roar will be louder but the exhaust flap will close immediately after the roar. Something to consider depending on your relationship with your neighbourhood and your garage orientation.

I use JB4 to start the engine with the valves closed at home. By default even in efficient mode I think your car will still start with valves open then close immediately after that.

Here you go. I am probably going this route for a while considering German noise laws and such. Plus, I do not want to do anything crazy that'll void my car's warranty.

A little off topic but does the ZCP only burble on over-run when in Sports Plus? Or does it do it in all modes but not as loud? I ask this as I've notice a hollow noise coming from the back of the car during off throttle when in efficient and was curious if it is the exhaust or something else before I start digging too deeply.

I have zcp with mpe

In efficient it sounds very similar, no drone or anything like that, it is a factory part and meets all epa requirements

On that basis, get it new from dealer and it's covered by warranty too, both part and the car

Don't let the handful of split mufflers scare you from what is really the only way to make this engine sound decent, if you're getting caught up in the forum hysteria you shouldn't have bought an m3/4 given theres more spun crank hub stories

I test drove the M4 track car in Southbank over the weekend. It had the MPE on it. Sounded like a monster when the valves are open. And literally like stock when its on efficient mode. After driving that car, I'm seriously considering the MPE!
If you really like to hear it just drop in and ask them to start it up!

And here I was hoping I could just get away with a midpipe. Now I just want the MPE. Lol
