Engine oil level

Hello,

Since few weeks my oil level showed 3/4 over minimum. Few days ago I changed my oil. I put requied 6.5 liters and oil level again showed 3/4. I added 0.5 liter but engine oil level is still 3/4 over minimum. Im afraid to add more oil. It looks that sensor is stuck?

Anyone had similar problem?

My car burn around 1 liter of oil during 5000km so I need to know what actual level is.

Regards,

I had a similar issue where it was showing 1/2 point between min and max. I changed the oil level sensor and that fixed it.

Could someone with oil level at max check "Raw value oil level" value in bimmerlink please?

Mine shows 94mm with running hot engine but I don't have what to compare with...

I didn’t know that was possible. I’ll check mine when back at the weekend

The GTS oil pan uses the identical pan of base/zcp models. The difference is the GTS oil level sensor is effectively on a spacer that allows 3/4 L of extra oil capacity. BimmerWorld sells an oem oil level sensor + spacer to convert base/zcp models to GTS capacity. It’s an inexpensive upgrade that allows for increased oil capacity.

Interesting, so "overfilling" by another liter is safe? Good to know how much more wiggle room there is if you top up a little past "max"

My problem is that my sensor is probably stuck. If someone could check "Raw value oil level" value in bimmerlink (hot engine) I will be very grateful

Yes, as long as you know it’s 3/4 L extra (changed from 1 L to 3/4 L? I’ll edit my original post). It should show up as being “overfilled” but if you have the BW spacer it’ll show up as “max”.

Here’s a link to the BW raised oil sensor kit:

Can that spacer alone allow for an additional 750ml of oil?

I believe BW provides a different length sensor so it works.
