M3 to a M550i or PanameraS?

Gentlemen, just looking for some input as to which car would be a good choice to move up to. If you have made a jump to either vehicles I would like your opinion as to why you chose it. FWIW, I am 62 planning to do more road trips and the M3 is just my weekend car.

Depends on preference. The M550 is definitely what I would recommend if you DIDN'T have an M3 already - the M550 is practical, fast, modern - but the F80 is just as much. If you're putting roadtrip (and general commuter) miles on the car I'd stick with the Panamera, especially if it's a newer one. Its power is more than enough for daily use, is very well-equipped as standard, and IMO the styling is excellent. I'd go with the Panamera only because you have a 4 door M already.

I would say go with the M550i due to simplicity. Also I’m sure that a Panamera with the equivalent 4.0 V8 will cost more. Especially when new. I had an M550i before my M3 and I would say they are both very different cars. The M550i is plush and comfortable car that definitely has the power to pretty much overtake any other car on the road. The only disappointing thing about the car was that the rear leg room is barely more than my F80.

If you do go with the M550i, make sure you get the B&W sounds system. Sounds and looks incredible.
