2018 non comp
Test drove both non comp and comp back to back.
Didn’t feel a big difference just some burbles on the comp.
Either way I was changing the suspension, exhaust and wheels up. Tune was planned but stock is good enough. Also blacked out all the stuff the comp has. Absolutely no regrets. Only thing is you see ppl lust over the comp package for no reason. Those same ppl mod the vehicles.

Well said from someone with experience! Anyone saying anything different has not driven both cars back to back. Comp is only worth it if the price is right and you will not be moding the car.

Test drove both the Comp and and base back to back. Base had 18's and the car was more compliant over bumps, but felt a little wallowy over bigger undulations. I really liked the 666m wheels, seats and suspension, so it was a no brainer for me. I have no plans of tuning the car as I feel its fast enough for me, so the added power was a bonus.

Go with the comp and trade out those 666ms for smaller rims that are easier to clean too.

That’s what I’m doing for a better ride and enjoy my ZCP for the long haul.

This is funny, I did the same thing.
I’m driving on lighter 18” wheels, and sold the really heavy 666m wheels.

How do you like it so far on 18s?

I'm hopeful the 19s are 😍

Whatever is in the best condition, like others have said. Can't go wrong either way.

Almost always a PC car will have higher mileage than 1-2k. In fact, they take new M cars on break-in drives to put mileage on them prior to use also. Most of the ones you see are in the 7k mile range, and the typical formula is DCT (100% of PC cars are DCT/auto) and Carbon Ceramic brakes. So if you see an F80 with DCT/CCB, it's worth looking at its past. The first line of sale has already happened as the last F80s left the PCs last year, and it's where BMW dealers offer them for sale...one southern CA dealer had 3 or 4 of them at one point last year, all DCT/CCB and in the 7-9k miles range.

I test drove non-comp vs comp with both DCT and 6spd. If DCT, non-comp is good enough. If 6spd, definitely have to go with comp as the non-comp felt a little anemic.

Believe during covid they halted the courses. So the 1/2k miles would make some sense. Perhaps they weren’t used by the public and only broken in mileage ?

No, they didn't halt them for very long. I was there twice last summer for CCA autox events, and before July the PC was fully functioning (at least here in South Carolina, the Thermal PC in CA may and likely was different). In any event, if it doesn't have CCBs, it wasn't a PC car (well put another way, every single F80 I've ever seen at the PC has had DCT and CCBs, and I've driven a lot of them over the past 5 years there at various events).

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the PC was devoid of F80s by Covid times also so it's probably a moot point. I don't recall seeing any F80s in service at the PC in 2020. F82 M4s, definitely, but not the F80s. 2019 was the year they got rid of the last of them.

Don't forget that you can code any F80 with ZCP and CS tunes/ZCP or CS DCT coding/ZCP, CS, GTS steering (many choose the GTS steering)/and LSD coding.

I know, but I'm a believer in keeping my cars bone stock. I know there are options and I can understand the attraction to reprogramming. It's just not for me. Been there, done that in the past. Now I just like to row my own gears and eat up rear tires every 10k miles.

Yea, the stock car felt anemic, but the comp car felt like a race car. That extra 19 horsepower makes all the difference.

Non-Comp F8x cars look as anonymous as other 3 series cars as most of them come with the old halo lights and ugly chrome trim. If you plan on doing a lot of exterior modding or don't care about appearance this isn't a big deal but the plain look of the non-comp models is a deal breaker for me as they just don't look special.

All I did was spend a couple hundred for the front grille surround, side grilles, and trunk emblem. Looks the same as a comp.

Probably depends on your plans, too. If you don't plan to modify it, then the competition may make sense.

Whether you're planning to modify it for track work or just for show, getting a competition package car probably is a less than ideal financial decision

I've got a friend debating this right now. We ran the numbers, and it just doesn't make sense (in his case he's planning to track it routinely). The expensive brakes (and other consumables) and big wheels would be the first things to go.

Knockoff parts I assume as I know the grilles and emblems cost more than a couple hundred bucks. Still doesn't look the same without the front lip spoiler or CF mirror caps.

Front surrounds and trunk m3 emblem from IND
Alittle more than a couple but you get the point.

I really liked seats and seat belt m strips that comp package includes.
The 666m rims are very nice but that’s just my opinion.
