I had same issue and funky idle with my BMS intakes. I now have injen intake that makes strange yet cool induction sounds, but idles perfectly fine.

Same problems for me with BMS.... once I swapped filters to Blitz SUS power it seemed to clean it up, warning filters are pricey but last a considerably long time.

So it's filter related? I got KN filters with the vrsf. Also, how is the filtration with blitz?

I cant say its entirely filter related, but the Blitz SUS filters have a more free flowing design and allow for much better air flow than the k&n style mesh filters.

Is there any procedure to reset the MAF sensor after installing a new intake? Or does it do it on its own after some driving?

I had some idle issues and stalling issues but it "seems" to be going away slowly, but its taking tens, if not hundreds of miles driving before the condition improved. Wondering if it really takes this much driving for the MAF sensor to adapt.

I actually went through 3 different intakes and the idling issues persisted. Sucks that it sounds so good but had issues. Not sure if this is something that completely goes away and it's also cold start/weather dependent.

What intakes did you have issues with? I think my problem went away now since I haven't noticed any issues as of late

Well I didn’t really spring for the top shelf ones but I had the VRSF, then Injen then the SSR intakes. Not sure if that was the reason I had those issues since they were there cheaper bunch of intakes.

Did you try cleaning your MAF sensor with something like CRC MAF cleaner?

Is it with your Forge intake? As i installed mine last week and also having troubles with the rough idling on start.
Had the BMS ones before and never had problems.

Maybe it needs to adapt, as i only driven like 100 miles with it since install

Yes forge. Did you use any silicone to seal the long tube maf sensor? I noticed the opening was way too wide for the maf sensor to seal properly with the O ring. used some silicone gasket maker to seal it.

I'm going to check the short tube later today and try to grease the O ring to make sure it seals on tight.

So I checked codes and there were a ton is misfire and fuel trim codes. No CEL surprisingly with the 1 page list of codes lol…

Anyway I cleared codes and reset learning adaptions in BM3 and went for a drive. Everything seems to have settled down the issue appears to have gone away.

I never reset adaptations before even after flashing BM3, loading GTS map, adding intake and charge pipes… I think I should have done that at least once lol

Some more fine tuning.

I had disabled burbles using BimmerLink and left burbles coded on in BM3 GTS map. I think the interplay between BM3 and BimmerLink disabled burbles was causing some of my issues. What I did was:

- Run down the fuel and refilled using fresh gas
- Disabled the "turn off burble" option in BimmerLink
- Reflashed the GTS map with burbles set to OFF.

This seems to have addressed whatever was causing my rough idle, stalling and twitchy throttle on my Forge intake.
