When I first crawled under my car while installing the MP front lip, I was astounded at how straightforward BMW had made an oil change in it. My '08 Acura also had both drain bolt and filter readily accessible without removing anything to gain access (with 'Drain Bolt' and a big arrow engraved in the chassis ), but the filter was under the car and hard to get a wrench around. M4 is beautifully simple.
But the damn missing dipstick pisses me off. A car made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts...uh, not quite.

I'm planning to change the oil myself. This guide really helps since I'm so used to check the dip stick for the oil level on my other car I have sold. Thanks for your help.

OP and other contributors to the thread, thanks very much for this. My car is reaching 7000 miles now and I plan to do an oil change myself based on the instructions here. I'm not a mechanic but like to attempt things where I can myself as a petrolhead and enthusiast
I also found this video which is helpful too:

Why do you need it? This DYI is for extra oil changes between CBS service events. Just wait, and take it to the dealer when CBS calls and get it. When you are out of warranty - who cares what CBS says.
P.S. CBS brake fluid flush is now due in 3 years. I wouldn't risk it, too.

Do you really have to chain the drain plug every fill or just the washer?
