Hi everyone, so I got my car a few weeks ago (loving it ) and have been trying to do this install for the V1 w/ Savvy, but I can't seem to get the wire to squeeze in between the windshield and roof. It fits snug from where the rearview mirror is, but as I get closer to the A pillar, in no way can I get it to slide in. Also can't fit it into the A pillar. I'm trying to do this on a 2015 M4 vert.
I attached some pics for reference. Anyone else have similar issues? |

I think having it in the HUD would be awesome. I swear the lights are super bright. As you said, directionally, V1 only knows Front/Rear/Sides, and not Left/Right, so the reverse image is not a problem.
Any threads on how to open up the HUD area? Any caveats/warnings about putting it in there? It would also be stealth, no need to hide it. One poster (the OP?) commented that his car was white, but at my height, I see the HUD image well above the hood and really projected over the street, so I am doubting he actually tried it out. |

Thanks for everyone's help with this and great post.
Installed as above, but placed the concealed display in the center console. Ran the cable, hidden, under the steering wheel. Can easily be removed and/or covered - just used some velcro. |

question for those of you with Savvy installed. is there any way to tell if the unit draws power after the ignition has been shut off? the V1 website indicates this as a warning, and I did a quick search and found a few people who have had their batteries drained by it. is it possible that some cars handle an OBD connection different than others (i.e. could the Savvy keep your ECU awake after shutting down in some cars, but not others?)? I don't drive my car every day. Every week, but not every day.
I was getting ready to order it as it seems like the perfect solution, and I particularly like the idea of muting below a pre-selected speed, but I don't want to find myself stranded or do anything to strain this battery (likely an expensive part to replace should something happen given it's Li-ion.) thanks for the help |

When the car is off, the unit, both the main unit and the concealed display are off and not working. Doesn't seem to draw any power as far as I can tell.

I just picked up my X5M today and moved my V1 setup with Savvy out of my f10 550 (where it worked fine). I have the same issue with the alarm. Looks like some of the new models have an OBD-sensing alarm system. Issue listed on Valentine website http://www.valentine1.com/savvy/savvy_problem_cars.asp
The question is, can you code the car to disable the OBD alarm? Quote:

I have the same question. Is the concealed display redundant with the LE Connection?

I actually look at the concealed display before looking at the app due to the location of the later but it comes down to personal preference... |

Does anyone know which model BMW's use OBD sensing alarms?
I have an E60M5 with a traditional hardwire install. I picked a 2012 E71 X6M for a winter car. I was researching a hardwire install and found the SAVVY. Seems like a winner with volume adjust that you get with low speeds. But, then the compatibility issues with BMW's that use OBD sensing alarms was noted on the Valentine One website. I'd like to get this, but would prefer a solution that does not create another problem.

OBD Port Issues?
Old thread, sorry:
I know the V1 Savvy port has some known issues with the OBD port in BMWs (http://www.valentine1.com/savvy/savvy_problem_cars.asp). Did you guys have this issue with the M4? Would like to know before making the purchase and I've read mixed results and can't find something definitive for the 2015/2016 M4s. Thanks in advance! |

All this is to say: no way I'm using Savvy in my M3 when it gets here in a couple of weeks. I've already ordered my MirrorTap. (btw, in case it matters, I use the Savvy to power a Passport Max, not a V1) |
