Advice on BBK
Hello,
Thank you for helping with my questions about tuning. Everyone helped me sort out some ideas and thoughts I have on the car. I have a concern about the ceramics. The fronts were replaced with 6500 miles along with pads. The rears are fine from what I know but pads are low. As it is my track car I am looking into going to Irons. I am reading that Essex AP is great for this car but also Brembo. As someone who has spent a lot of time around Porsches I know Giro Disc is a great option as well. I do not know though if they make a replacement for CCB. Especially with these Calipers. I would love people's thoughts on brake replacements for this car. I do know ducts are good to possibly have as well. Vlad |

For serious track use the only kit that is ready out of the box for the F8X generation is the AP RadiCal. The Brembo one is really pretty but not at the level of the AP for sure.
On my E90 stroker track car I have front and rear Z54/Z45 PFC BBK. This is, in my opinion, the ultimate track BBK. I like it so much that when I got the CS I spent a while designing a bracket to adapt the Z54 front PFC BBK from the E9X onto the F8X chassis. So, my CS has Z54 PFC front and AP RadiCal rear In the case of the GTS you can probably just swap to the M2c rotors and Pagid RSL29 pads and call it a day. A company is prepping proper race rotors for the CCB brakes in steel and when those come out you'll be all set. The GTS calipers are good and if you go this way you can avoid spending +10k on a BBK. There is also the intermediate step, where you get a front BBK and keep the rear OEM. I tried this on my CS when I had stock suspension and in two days I wore through one 28mm front pad and scorched the rear dust boots, so after that I got suspension and the AP RadiCal rear kit and it has made a huge difference To recap, your options are: 1) get M2c iron rotors until they release proper race iron rotors 2) get a front-only bbk and swap the rear to iron 3) get a front+rear bbk

It's no joke. The M2 iron rotors add ~46lb of unsprung weight over the CCB rotors, which is quite a lot. I'd rather go with either aftermarket BBK or rotors if I were to swap out the CCB.

Oh I know. My 3 F82's and F90 all CCB optioned. The weight was my main reason. I just got a kick out of discussion point that I've been having since 2014.

I've also argued many times that the main performance benefit of CCB is the reduced unsprung weight. I would still not get CCB on my cars though, just too costly to operate at the frequency I track them. To each their own
