I'm on the fence.

My lease is up 12/20 and I need to do something before or around that time. No real interest in buying my car off lease and not even sure g80s will be out by then. Which if I had it my way I would slide into a g80.

Figure I'd give the model 3 a good look.

That in a nutshell tells you all you need to know. You have no choice but to look at that mind-numbingly boring, weirdly dimensioned, uninspired and listless body design that reminds one more of a hyundai/kia/toyota/nissan/mitsubishi econobox than it does a premium performance sedan.

Now, the Tesla Roadster, that is a whole other story. Beautiful lines, fresh looking, dimensions that really fit the eye. One can't help but to turn around and look again when walking away. No one will mistake that for a Japanese econobox.

I'm no bmw fan boy but if the model 3 didn't look like Humpty Dumpty I would buy one. Test drove the P100D a few weeks ago and it's stupid fast.

My lease is also up in December of this year. I'm hoping the G80 will be here in 4Q20 or 1Q21 I think BMW allows you to extend your lease by a few months.

I was looking at the M3Ps but I think I'll hold off to see how the G80 stacks up before making a decision.
I like X3m and similar cars like upcoming glb45 a lot as family hauler cars for my wife.

But that being said, when the lease on her f31 330 is up, I’m going to ask her about taking on my model 3P and hopefully an all electric sports car like Cayman EV or Honda sports EV will be available for me to use as a commuter. I enjoy the low seating position of those cars A LOT and that’s something that a sedan like model 3 or f80 can’t provide.

As for drag racing, I have been interesting in putting on a 700hp kit for my 911 turbo to try and get trap speeds in the 135-140 range but have been holding off since I think the c8 z06 will get there stock. Heavy car like X3m with a chip tune isn’t that interesting to me.

Did you get a quote on the M3P with 10k miles per year? Do you mind sharing it with me? You know for science. 😂

They give you them right off Tesla's website.

https://www.tesla.com/support/tesla-leasing

Or do they deviate from that in-store? I saw a black one today with black trim, dark tint, lowered and it looked OK. Much better than stock but still funny looking IMHO.

Check the site its pretty close. Use my build as a reference . White paint white interior Full performance pack No fsd. Should be 860 a month with 15k a year. Total out of pocket was 1860 .

I have yet to put 1 penny into gas/electric and have 1k miles already.

If you want a model 3 performance but dont care about the red brakes wheels or rear spoiler look into ordering a Model 3 p- . That payment was 660

So I'm curious how it works with payment. The website gives an estimated payment for your build, you pay the $100 deposit and then what? Do you work out the details at the store when you pick up the car? Or is everything still handled through the website?

no FSD? Is that the same as the 7k auto pilot option? Like 2 options on the website for a 3 performance.

Everything can be done online, phone call or text. If you live in a state with Tesla sales centers you can place the order in person and that sales associate would be your point of contact. There really is no negotiating on price as with the traditional dealership networks as everything is owned by Tesla.

For me, I applied for my loan, gave that information on the website, uploaded my final payment (in state of TX, that's required) and insurance and drivers license and waited for a delivery date online with phone confirmation and went to the service center, signed 2 pieces of papers and an iPhone and drove off.

Auto pilot is free and its all you really need in my opinion. Fsd is 7k and would be very cool if it wasn't 7k.

As for the deposit you give 100 down when the car is ready they tell you to wire transfer the remaining balance which in my case was 1960-100 deposit =1860.

Right now the only functional difference is “lane change on autopilot”. I have the “come to me” summon feature also but I’m not really interested in beta testing that and risking a collision in the parking lot.

I got that FSD vapor ware and am liking it, but agree it’s not worth paying $7k for.

As an aside, I’m thinking of getting some snow tires for the stock 20s and getting a set of 19x19.5 wheels and 275 square setup of Re71r. A bit worried about the range hit (even thought I need to refuel my 6TT anyway after 200mi, which is similar range as model 3p).

I don’t think the rear can fit 305. Would’ve been cool to fit 305 rear ties, like f80

Did that 1950 cover TTL and first months? Although I think it doesn't for how low it is. MD rapes you on leases and cost vs lease on the 3ps seem to benefit buying by a heavy margin especially with how well they seem to hold their value.

The X3M looks the part of the aggressive performance SUV, but:

https://www.evo.co.uk/bmw/x3/202087/...-wrong-package

That review isn't the last word, obviously, but the comments about the ride quality and overall dynamics would give me pause...

As far as I can tell they aren't selling all that well either. The ones my local has have been sitting since they came out and I have seen dudes getting good lease deals on them with all the discounts available.

It really is a cross roads for me, go EV or stick with combustion sport sedans.

And it performs like a supercar with so little apparent effort... The throttle response makes it laughably easy to pass rolling chicanes before they know it.
