BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Part # 1 of 4

First, id like to send a big Thank you to the wonderful folks over at AWE Tuning. Id like to do a little incremental installation/sound clip/ review of this product.. Some people have seen the resonated version already; this is the Non Resonated Variation

This is the first video of four increments of sound clips i will be doing for the AWE-Tuning Track Edition, Non Resonated model; with 90mm Black Diamond Tips. For informational purposes, this M4 is a 6speed, NON competition package with stock downpipes and zero bolt on modifications.

There have been alot of questions recently upon the installation video a few days ago. This is no surprise to me; as it shows exactly how good of a reputation AWE. And the proof is in the pudding. As an engineer, i was actually quite skeptical about the new Track Edition exhaust. And not until actually bolting it up and hearing the car for myself was i sold on it. But just as the R&D team at AWE has stated, this platform was created and engineered to maintain close harmonics with their tried and true switchpath® exhaust; however at a friendlier price point. As many old AWE and new potential AWE customers alike; the wait is over. This Track Edition exhaust is Very Real indeed; with their sound and performance holding up to their other variations, not to mention supreme quality and customer service.

Please be on the lookout for the next 3 Parts of this series release, as i also do;

2) Several moving sound clips, go pro videos recorded outside of the car.

3) Side by Side sound clips with a 6speed, non comp package, stock downpiped BMW M4 with a Switchpath® Exhaust system... And also Side by Side sound clips with a 6 speed, non comp package, AFTERMARKET downpiped BMW M4 with a RESONATED AWE Track Edition Exhaust

4) A total Wrap up with with any and all pros and cons of this exhaust; graded accordingly, and all videos.

Thanks for taking the time to put this data together. I myself am very interested in the same setup that you have, but I've been waiting for more comparisons and reviews before taking the plunge.

I'm looking forward to your comparison between this and the switchpath system.

thank you for that! Glad you enjoyed them.

I will have AWE Track Edition vs AWE SwitchPath Comparison videos this weekend!, and they will be rolled out here immediately.. Both will be 6mt, NonComp , Non Resonated ; so the cars are pretty much identical..

BTW, Go Pro Footage will be uploaded shortly!

im not going to lie.. this is one of the more difficult attributes to this exhaust.. its the cold start.. its Loud.. If you own a garage, its REAL loud.. lol... Luckily I drive the car on sundays only and I don't have to worry about my neighbors, so I am ok with it... Hence why its a "Track only" exhaust.. Take that how you want it; as far as semantics. lol.. but it is definitely an awesome exhaust.. check the next video for the switchpath comparison

Any idea how the cold start on the track exhaust compares to the cold start on the non-res switchpath with the valves open?

it will be hard for me to get a video comparison of that, being that I would have to record someone elses exhaust after a while of non-action (i.e. cold), but I have heard them in person.. while its definitely loud, I don't think it is unbearable.. and lets face it.. it only lasts 15seconds or so and then its not bad..

Yeah, the cold start doesn't last very long. I was just curious because I have the flaps open (can flap) all the time and I wanted to see if there was a major difference in loudness on the cold starts between the two.

I would imagine it would just a little louder than what you have since you're open all the time.

How are you doing sir?

I currently own a M4 ZCP and would love to get the track edition NON res!

If you had to give a rating on sound from 1-10, how would you describe it?

Let's place

Stock 3/10
ZCP 4/10

How drastic is the change?

It's easily a 7 on the scale. It's a little bit louder than the AWE Non Resonated Switchpath.

Here are a couple videos of both:

Hmmm

I've been wanting to do AA MID and REMUS muffler; however, I wonder if the AWE Track NON res would be a good option. Any feedback on drone?

The AWE track with no resonators does have mild drone due to the lack of valves or muffler. Without the valves or muffler, there is no modulation of the pressure whatsoever. The resonated track system will have considerably less drone.

The Remus w/AA mid pipe and stock downpipes has no drone whatsoever nor rasp. When you add a downpipe, there is a bit of drone in 3rd gear + in cruising RPMs (3k +).

Videos attached below:

First video is stock. Wanted to use that as a comparison. Both are filmed with same camera. Cold start at the end.
