Ngk 8f8s = 8b8s

Placed an order for the BMW "high power" NGK spark plugs SILZKBR8F8S via Bimmerworld BUT instead received SILZKGR8B8S. They are aware I ordered a set of 8F8S plugs. See picking ticket.

I was not aware both plugs are equivalent. Is Bimmerworld correct? Or should I request 8F8S plugs? Or are the 8F8S plugs going away and 8B8S supersedes it?

Wrong part. Both FCP and NGK compatibility does not match our cars.

You ordered right, but they picked and shipped a wrong part. Since the NGK# is so close someone probably put a wrong part in the right bin, then another person grabbed it.

F8S is for E85 and flex fuel.

D8S is ok for stage 2 91 or 93 tune. You can use this for flex fuel but be prepared to change frequently.

Thanks guys — Bimmerworld shipped me a set of 8B8S (not 8D8S) … don't need/want 97506 either.

They are still standing behind their word that 8B8S supersedes 8F8S. 🤔

Went and purchased 2 sets of 8F8S plugs from the dealership. Will return the 8B8S plugs to Bimmerworld. Problem solved.

Why not FCP Euro?
I'm on my second "free replacement" set.

Really? do they have to been pretty rough looking? I usually replace mine once a year every 3k miles or so.

Not rough…as long as they've been used some. They've never given me any problem.

So are the 8B8S plugs successors to the 8F8S plugs? Or are they a completely different plug?

Verdict is still out. Bimmerworld says the 8B8S is the successor to the 8F8S while Turner Motorsports says the Brisk plugs are a compatible replacement for the 8F8S.

The 8F8S is exclusive to BMW so even NGK won't fully know. I reached out to Bend Calibration and asked and he took it upon himself to call NGK directly but after speaking with them this subject still remains inconclusive. 🤷*♂️

They're basically the same plug in a different heat range. The NGK 97506 is marked xxxD8S and the BMW High Power is xxxF8S (as you said). When used in the proper ranges they should have the same lifecycles.

So for a S55 stock tubo runing stage 2+ E85 what would be the plug of choice for this tune?

Is the 97506 2 steps colder than stock and the F8S 1 step colder than stock?

Thanks.

NGKs will do fine for any OTS tune, 0.023" gap.

I only pick the High Power ones for high boost custom E85 tunes.

Would then a S55 custom E85 S2+ 26-27psi peak boost, max effort stock turbo tune qualify for the High Power F8S?

Thanks.

I still pick NGKs at 30PSI boost or less.
Your custom tuner would advise best on plug and gap for their tune.
