I was actually going to buy a tray to cover my two cup holders in the front, would suck to have to buy another tray for the back

This is a travesty!!! No cup holder in the back!!

You know what else bugs me - you can't regulate the temps in the back.....

Granted 95% of the time I'm the only one in the car.

The coolest thing happened the other day when my wife could not go to our 7yo son's football game with me. Usually we take her car as it is the family hauler (3 kids here). So after the game my son got his obligatory snacks. This time it was Gatorade and crackers. He opened the crackers and had them almost finished by the time we got to the car. He finished them outside w/o me even saying anything. Anyone that has kids knows this as a breakthrough moment.
Poetry in motion.

I don't care about cup holders in the rear seat area but let's give OP a chance to ask the question he did. I mean everyone seems to be jumping on him. Perhaps in his opinion it is an oversight bc his passengers need the cup holders.

Well you can but you gotta twiddle a knob.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

OP I'm with you. The convertible has cup holders, but not the 4 door? What they did provide that makes no sense to me is the rear door map holders. They always ends up being trash bins to my kids

Some of the responses are funny.

You guys crack me up.

The door cup holders don't hold coffee cups, just bottles of water.

As far as the no drinks in the car rule, well maybe for you weekenders , but mine is a daily driver, not a garage queen , nor is it on a pedestal, it's 4 door car, not a Lamborghini.

It's a ritual everyone must go through here. A few bruises and a beaten up ego keeps us all nasty on the roads.

Now that's just crazy talk. You don't take it out in the rain do you? Pretty sure the paint is washable water based...

1. We are not jumping on him. This my friend is an INTERVENTION! Every self respecting and Mcar loving member of this forum (i.e. Crazies) know that drinks are NOT and SHOULD NOT be allowed in the cars. It is part of the M creed! We are saving him from being kicked out.

2. This was not an oversight. Every self respecting BMW fanboi and girl knows that this oversight was nothing of the sort. It was a calculated and necessary purpose made decision.

Long live the no cupholder brigade!!!

Oh I wouldn't either! I don't understand why people don't just buy condoms. It solves the transportation issues and cup holder stuff until the M, and we all know an M driver gets no action, so after signing there will be no risks.

Listen Lups .....

It is a scientific fact that cups filled with Liquids are more dense and therefore carry unnecessary weight.....

The engineers believed liquid consumption by drivers to be a trivial afterthought and thus made the correct Engineer type decision to exclude any and all cup holders!

As for the A/C issue.....and shift in barometric pressure in the cabin might cause and shift is dynamic tracking of the rear suspension, thus making the F8X M unstable due to weight shift during acceleration by persons attempting to adjust the cabin ambient temperatures....simple quantum physics really....

BTW - I drive a pickup truck

Came up once last year between a friend and I. He was sitting in back with my daughter and my wife was up front. We went through the drive though at Starbucks.

Friend: Where are the cup holders back here?

Me: There are none.

Friend: Really?

Me: Yup.

Friend: Ok.

We have gone almost an entire year since then and our friendship is still intact. We have also made it through the last year with no ill lasting effects from the ordeal.

My daughter uses spill resistant cups and if there is one we clean it up and move on. Really not that big of a deal. And somehow we have all made it through the year with the horrible HVAC system as well.

You sure made us all cool with this post. Glad you have our back pickup truck driver! I'd pet five bucks we'll end up in NW section again after our (forum) polishing enthusiast sees this conversation, but it would be too easy move for him. It's currently 36 F here so we all would be happy to have a conversation about the issues of cooling in the cars, or cupholders that we don't have for the iced drinks we need for the fast cruises in the rain.
