Nope never pulled or had camber plates in this car.

All of the Last MCoupe, M3, M4, all had camber plates. Had the same spring binding sound But no clunk.
Something I lifted from another thread. Is this what you Knuckle looked like?

Not the one that I have seen. That is very scary to say least. It looks like that has never seen a mile of driving. You should ask Day Laborer where he got that pic from.

That makes me feel a little better. Hey, still one bolt left. Leave it with the dealer and take a loner until they fix it.

Probably has depreciated as far as it is going to, in one fell swoop.
Back to normal BMW depreciation. My 20k miles will probably accelerate since you guys are not driving your cars.

Thanks for the pictures. Amazing it broke on both sides. Too much airborne or maybe over-torqued at the factory? I am voting for over torque.

"Torque"

It's none of that. Three months ago... some right/left carriers were available. By the time I submitted my request none were available. So... BMW knows something we don't, and cars are being fixed quietly because no one talks about it. Or BMW is quietly producing a lot of them for a recall.

Torque as in the bolts might have been tightened with too MUCH Torque. serial numbers of the affected cars would tell the tale if the torque was set too high on a particular machine(s)
If you look at the pictures the separation of the clamp portion is really excessive. Almost as if the Aluminum has been overstretched and yielded at that lower connection. (Just my opinion)

Here is the link for the NHTSA. They need to know before someone gets hurt. It takes less than five minutes.

This is why I mentioned this long ago. It is not uncommon for techs to use an impact gun to tighten the knuckle to strut. The GTS uses only 56nm of torque(same as base aluminum knuckle) but the billet is not able to stretch the way aluminum will if over tightened. Be aware if having camber plates or any strut work done.
