After modifying my 335d considerably I was hoping that by buying a proper M car I wouldn't need to do that again, but after you've had proper suspension it's hard to go back, so ended up fitting ACS RS coilovers to my M4.

I'd had a brief drive of a car with it fitted, and so knew it would be better, but hadn't been able to drive it on bumpy roads to really know how it was on typical potholed urban roads, and given the M4 CP is already quite stiff I felt it might be a little bit of a gamble for a daily driver.

Anyway, turns out that I was completely wrong, and it's quite bloody amazing!
It's similar stiffness, but much more absorbant and compliant, and instead of feeling slightly oversprung, and underdamped (especially in comfort mode), it now just flows and breathes with the road. I immediately had much increased feel, confidence and trust in the car, and felt much more able to really lean on it than before.

Even at slow speed in town it feels no firmer than before, just more rounded.

And the icing on the cake is that it now sits at a great ride height too.

For anyone who really likes to drive their car hard on a British A and B road I honestly don't think there is a more important modification than getting proper suspension fitted.

Yes, added 10mm all round now. It could take wider too.

I'd had ACS RS on my previous 335d, and I was missing that aspect of how that car drove to be quite honest. The M4 is such a great car and so almost "perfect" that it seemed a bit of a waste not to finish it off.

Having said that, I think most proper coilovers from a renowned suspension company like KW, Bilstein, Ohlins etc would do a great job. I trust ACS to have got the balance right on set up though for road use and a bit of track, which is how I use it.

I also had the chance to get this set from someone upgrading his to high end Intrax coilovers, so a lot less than the price new.

Same as they should be as standard, though I may take it to Center Gravity for full chassis tune inc corner weighting.

I went to King Lynn and used the workshop that ACS use up there. I've got to know Lorcan over the years and they've done a few suspension jobs for me over the years, so I trust them to do a good job.

Can't say I know how much work is involved. Don't think it's too bad as most places quote an hour per corner for these cars.
