I have MPE on my inbound M3 and plan on coding this to try it out. Will let you know my thoughts.

I installed the Dinan exhaust a couple weeks ago. It sounds good - granted, it's not as loud as other aftermarket exhausts I've seen/heard on YouTube. I unplugged the ASD module and drove it around for a day and I personally prefer the sound from ASD. I plugged it back in and for me, it enrichens the driving experience. My two cents.

We will have to wait until somebody with a March 2016 build tries it.

Assuming the hardware is compatible, would it be possible to DIY update the firmware? (From my limited understanding of coding, I'm thinking this would at least require the full pszData so maybe something I need to convince a friendly dealer to do for me - just like the HUD update I never managed to get ) |

I've coded CP to yes on my car during some experimentation but only to check if faults are generated in Rheingold which was the case. However I never did drive to compare as I don't care about ASD you can flash ASD, and should be a simple procedure as its a very simple ECU compared to others. Here's a thread where few people did it http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1193651

This is all very interesting. I have been following a lot of the threads for Coding items on my car. I like what I am hearing regarding this, but I have a very old car. It is a 2015 with a 6/2014 in service date. dmnc02 if you would like to meet up and grab some files from my car, I would be happy to help.

Will be following this with interest.
I have a 4/2015 production date and have not updated my ESYS software or psdzdata since I did all of my LED coding.

How come this wasn't discovered until now? If this is codeable on a post July 2015 build F8x, why wasn't it discovered then when the MY16 cars came out? Do you need new software that was just released recently to code this?

I was looking for it. I tried doing the Comp pack option in the VDC module, but it just caused an EDC malfunction. I had to use ISTA/D to recalibrate the EDC. I didn't know about the other Fahrzeugtyp option. Either that has to be coded at the same time, or maybe the comp pack stuff wasn't implemented in my version of software on the car, and my car is pretty new.
I have ASD disabled, so I wasn't interested in that. I will be trying these settings this weekend maybe. I also downloaded the 58.0 PZSData, so I could possibly upgrade some modules if needed. Does anybody know which module controls the rear diff? Is that perhaps part of the ICM or VDC? |

Edit: Great info in that document. "The signals of the Integrated Chassis Management (ICM) and the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) interact functionally for the distribution of the locking torque at the rear axle." So maybe coding the ICM and DSC are enough since they seem to control the lockup of the GHAS. Last edited by terahertz; 03-16-2016 at 04:21 PM.. |

terahertz, there is a new GHAS SWFL & CAFD version update between my car (06/15, psdZ 55.3, F020-15-03-503) and current production (psdZ 58.0, F020-16-03-501), but it looks to be a minor one, but who really knows for sure what these updates do

I took the car for a drive, and my first impression was that it was *much* quieter in all modes - almost as though ASD was disabled. I *think* there was still some synthetic sound, but it was barely noticeable. The bass grumble under acceleration and the diesel-like idle sounds were almost completely gone. Under hard acceleration, maybe a bit more E46-like. Not very much difference between comfort and sport/sport plus either. In fact, the car sounded much too quiet until I set the exhaust valves to 'always open'. So, I'm wondering if somehow due to old firmware I effectively disabled ASD? |
