Its a bit technical, I might make a guide.

If you have all that shouldn't you be able to track it anyway?

What do you need this search for if you already have the ship info?

If you wanna PM me your VIN I can run the search for you...

Yeah if you know the vessel name then any of the online trackers will work fine. I like MarineTraffic.com the best. Unfortunately none of the free ones get you satellite coverage in the middle of the Atlantic, and once it arrives at the port of entry nobody can tell you how long it will be there before it gets on a truck to your dealer.

Dover Highway is stuck in space-time discontinuity since 4/22. It was to arrive at CAHAL on 4/28. Revised ETA is 4/30.

My final timeline, to the best of my recollection:

March 15: allocation located, placed order with dealer. Week 13 build week identified.
April 4: original anticipated date of completion, per the Genius folks.
April 10: production complete.
April 12: At port of Bremerhaven
April 14: boarded W&W Carmen.
April 30: arrived at port of NYC
May 2: notified that it cleared customs and completed at VPC. Genius notes said vehicle scheduled to be delivered to dealer
May 4: arrived at dealer in manhattan.
May 4: picked up car.
May 4: attempted to post pictures very late at night, computer error received, upload failed. Went to sleep.
May 5: posted pics from iPhone.

Good luck everybody with future ordering and tracking. The folks on bimmerpost have been a wealth of information.

One thing I will say, perhaps it's changed since the original sticky was created:The BMW website updated almost immediately once each step was completed. Not that it offers much more than vague steps, it was accurate the whole way through. The BMW NA folks were just as helpful and up to date as genius, and I experienced a couple times when genius systems were down and BMW NA had information Genius didn't. I suggest trying both phone numbers. The Genius and BMW NA folks we're all extremely nice, eager to help, and didn't mind the constant calls.

Anyone else still waiting longer than expected for your car to leave the port after finishing production, car has been finished for over a 1.5 months now, kind of crazy, nobody seems to know why either.

That's a really long time. What status is the car now? Is it confirmed at the port awaiting vessel?

The current status is handed over to carrier, so it's been headed to the port now since the 14th of this month but hasn't made it to the port yet according to my dealer or BMW Genius. You would think after waiting over a month just to leave the factory after production it would get shipped right out.

As I replied in the other thread, "Awaiting carrier assignment" comes before "Dispatched from factory" and "At the port", so I think that the answer is obvious.

And then again, the status could just be wrong...

Please excuse some noob questions in regards to ordering, all of my vehicles have been off the lot. For those with lots of experience ordering, I've got an allocation for an M2C and want to pick your brain, primarily, from a how the finances work, perspective.

1. Price negotiation - I saw on the sticky this is negotiated up front minus any rebates/offers. Given the car will go for MSRP, do corporate discounts need to be discussed upfront or later in the process?

2. Financing rates - when are these "locked in" am I at the mercy of whatever the best rate is when the vehicle comes in? For me this applies to both lease vs. finance decision.

3. Trade In - done at the time of purchase once the vehicle comes in correct? Has anyone traded early and had dealer keep money in escrow until the order comes in?

4. Back Out - provided no deposit is given, I have the option to back out once the car comes in without fiscal liability, correct?

5. Any other finance nuances to be aware of during this process?

In case this is helpful to anyone while their car sits at the port awaiting a carrier. WW site has shipping schedules to give you some perspective, while you wait for more information. I'm hoping mine can get on the July 30th ship to Baltimore...
