Pretty crazy right. I also noticed that if you don’t take the offer (at least with caravana) if the car is in demand they offer you more when it expires and you redo it. I did that 2 years ago with my Camry just out of curiosity to test there system and it went up a hundred every expiration lol. In this market who knows how much it could rise since they know it’s an instant sale and there open to loosing a little profit.

Geez, I've never seen or been in a position where any of my cars have had it's depreciation slow or in the F80's case, apparently climb (2016 Silverstone 6 speed). I owe $22K on it, been paying it off aggressively since I bought it. It's getting tempting to sell it for high 30's low 40's, paying off BMWFS and continue to save towards something else. M2CS, 997.2, face lifted G80?

the issue there is every used sports car is going up. new cars can be haggled on though. Not sure about the CS since those were limited, seems most people still want over sticker for theirs. 997.2 carrera s are like at least $70k+ for a nice one. G80 is definitely the worst financial decision out of all of them, its going to tank in value.

Agreed. It's sell high buy high right now. Unless you sell, sit and save on it while driving a beater
which is easier said then done.

I've seen there inventory show a few m4's nationwide then show 0, Same with the M3's, but the M3's are getting more money for sure since more M4's were sold. Its funny that this is the case because the M3 had a cheaper msrp, but thats the way supply/demand works.

Are you actually considering trading it in or just curious about the quotes?

I also noticed that carmax has a 2012 M3 coupe for 32,998 with 64k miles, im posting the link because im curious how fast this sells at its current price. It'll give us an idea of how the market is continuing to trend considering these are older models.

Now im curious about this one. Black 2013 M3 $36,998 68k miles

I hear you! When it’s just me hitting an entrance ramp to the highway, the M was envigorating but I’m embracing the whole luxury sav experience now. The family loves the interior lighting and the pixels in the moon roof at night. And because it’s ultimately someone else’s vehicle, I am loving not being hyper sensitive about everything.

Lol even that one is now off the market. This is one hot market, way more than I expected and these are not even the 2015 models, but there are people who prefer the last v8 m3 and that’ll always have a specific buyer market.

Don't do it! Mine's at 4300 miles... so I'm with you. I started to consider it when I saw similar ones in the $70-80K range (at dealers), but then I think about what I would replace it with and I have NO idea. Only a P-Car interests me but then I realize I won't get to enjoy the car much with a growing family.

I agree there isn’t much out there that I want right now that would replace it.

If you don’t need the extra car and you think you’ll only ever put another 5k miles on it in a year or two then you’d be better off with that money in a CD or stocks. Right now the values are good and I bet by the middle of summer they will peak as the summer heat brings out sports car buyers. It’s really all up to you, and only you can decide that. If you wanted to upgrade to the new M3 now would be a good time to buy since dealers are giving top dollar now for trade ins.

My local dealer just sent me letter and email asking to trade in my 2018 M3 for new 2021 M3 😂.

I wish BMW had something that I wanted to buy!

I just bought a 2016 m4 with 30500 miles on it (options in signature) for the "kind" price of $46999. Seems like it was a good deal in today's market. Key words being "today's market". I am still in love though

I basically have the same exact car as you, roughly same mileage and options... Bought it one year ago last March at the beginning of the pandemic, at that time there were no inventory shortages, And for a brief moment no one was buying anything. ( except me haha! ).

Just for reference I paid 42k at a bmw dealership. 47k seems decent and about right in this market.

Thanks! Yeah I went on autotrader and tried to sell it like it was mine. It suggested almost $52k clean retail (and she is super clean), so I did it. My dream car is a reality and it feels worth it to me. I knew I was paying up more than when I got my other bmw's, but still satisfied based on current prices.

*edit- Previous to me buying it, in October they had a 2017 silver M4 with 48k miles for $36k. I almost tried to get that one at the time.

Wow 36k for a 17 m4 ....if it had a clean title

I don’t think I’ve seen a 17 that cheap regardless of miles.

Anyway yeah congratulations on getting it and pulling the trigger... seems like a lot of people get hung up on whether or not they’re getting a “good deal“ or getting screwed. Your stoked about your car and that’s priceless in my book.

Honestly the condition of the 2 cars is not even. close either though. Despite being pre lci my car has more options, better wheels and tires, and is in a lot better condition than that 17 was. There were several bumper chips and some rust on the wheels at the center caps. Not sure what style they were. Please allow me to share a pic of my new babe!

Man! If you drive on roads like that may I recommend a front splitter! Gorgeous although I’m slightly biased. :-)

Another anecdotal data point reflecting the current state of things - I was at my Mitsu dealer last week getting my 11 year old evo x serviced (bone stock, 45k miles). Someone in the finance department approached me and made me a $21k offer to buy it on the spot. I originally bought it for $39k OTD from them in Feb 2010. Interesting times-

I am getting bombarded by the dealer for my 2018 M3 comp 6MT with 3200 miles (Avus Blue/Black). They have sent me no less than 3 letters and probably 5 emails trying to get me in a new M340i or the new M3/4. Also just got a text on my 2014 550i xdrive M-sport from the dealer. It seems that the used car market is incredibly hot right now and they want anything they think they can move quickly. But as others have said, what would I replace it with? I love the M3 especially rowing my own gears and would be super bummed to part with it.
