Yes, all tolerances were reassessed and improved. This guarantees a better and tighter fit every single time. Tighter Tolerances = Higher Integrity.

You can run the crank hub with or without a crank bolt capture. We have NEVER had a bolt back out on us, nor have I heard of this happening with any installations done by any of our trusted install facilities from across the world. IF PROPERLY TORQUED, the OEM crank hub stretch bolt does not need a capture, and if it did then we would be seeing A LOT more failures due to bolts backing out on stock S55 engines as well. Again, I am not recommending it or recommending against it, but what I am saying is that if your new 4 pin crank hub is installed correctly then it should not be needed.

Do you guys recommend using blue lock tite on the threads of a brand new bolt and or torque to spec and or adding 90 degrees as final step?

I had the 2 pin MaxPsi installed 10 months ago. I don't feel the necessity to change to 4 pin, of course it's possible just mean more down time. Is the 4 pin guaranteed bulletproof? What if a 6 pin comes out 1 month after one swap to 4 pin? IMO one can get the CBC for a feel good option with the already installed 2 pin. Just my 2 cents.

I'll have the CBC install when I upgrade the cylinder head and turbo swap.

It is definitely possible but not necessary nor is it under the "recommended" category.

Remember, both solutions have been proven to be extremely successful and the 4 pin design is only a design change to make what we believe to be a great solution, even better.

Yea i hear you bro. I did mines about 6 months ago. I did it for my piece of mind and then they relase the 4pin right after making me think if the 2pin was even strong enough even though i know there is no failures as far as ive seen so far.

5 out of 6 of these cars are in for crank hub upgrades! We will let you make your best guess at which one isn't

The red one as the owner was smart and opted for a S58 conversion.

Hey SSR, I’ve been catching up on your videos on YT, and the collaboration with Simply Car Things, very informative and well made videos thank you.

Is there a reason your crank hub is a two piece design with 4 pins to hold the outer sprocket onto the rest of the hub?

Why not just make it all one piece?

Is there a benefit to seperate the outer sprocket (I think it’s the water pump sprocket) and using 4 pins to stop it moving?

Cheers

Yeah!

It offers our users ease of installation and no decrease in reliability.

With the separated design it allows the user to be able to install the crank hub without removing the oil pan. We do it by dropping the oil pan anyways to be as diligent as we possibly can be.

Hope this helps!

What's the difference in labour cost between oil pan drop or not?

It would be anywhere from 6-8 hours depending on the shop

Do you ship these to the UK? Or any UK recommended installers?

Quick question. I have read that the 2018 Competition models don't need a crank hub upgrade unless they are pushing high HP numbers (700) because they have a locking washer of sorts that keeps the bolt from backing out and the hub spinning. Is there truth to this?

Although that may or may not be the case, we have done more post 2018 models than have have done pre 2018 models after they spun a hub. I hope that helps get you an idea!

Just got the SSR Hub Fix and car starts tear down today!

Does anyone have info on how deep you have to drill into the crank for the pins?

I saw 6mm just to confirm. Wanting to know for myself as this is getting installed by an experienced BMW technician.

This beautiful M4 GTS just got dropped off at SSR HQ in Orange County, CA for a full Stage 2 Power pack along with our upgraded SSR Performance 4 Pin Crank Hub Upgrade! Our stage 2 power pack includes SSR Downpipes, SSR Intakes, and SSR Chargepipes paired along with a Protuning Freaks Bootmod3 Stage 2 tune. Eventually he will be returning for a full E85 Custom tune that will be done by none other than Cary Jordan, right here on our in house mustang dyno!

This car is going to be going from stock to savage real quick! Will try and post up some sound clips after we're done with it!
