Is the HAS from BMW worth it? I don't want to make the car faster in a straight line, just more fun and tossable.

In my opinion, you always get more value by getting aftermarket kits vs BMW

Honestly, having just taken mine off, I don’t think lowering the car too much on the OE shocks is a great idea as I did run mine lower than the recommended ride height. Over time my shocks became much less effective and there was a significant difference in damping quality when going back to stock. If I put it back on my next F8X, it’ll almost certainly be set to max ride height and function purely as a way to corner balance the car. If I ever lower the car, it’ll be on a true adjustable coil over setup that is designed to be run at lower ride heights.

How low is the recommended ride height vs stock? I just want a tad lower and the ability to move it back to stock

I'll be selling mine very cheap in a few weeks as I just bought a 3 way suspension. If you're interested in buying used, let me know.

The recommended ride height is fairly low but it looks great. I can take a photo of my car if you'd like.

It's a complicated question to answer. Only you can answer that. For me it was worth it. I was looking for something simple that wouldn't take up a bunch of my time setting up and would give me the handling and looks I was looking for while retaining the OEM eletronic dampers. I've been happy with mine for four years and the setup hasn't given me a good reason to change to a full coilover swap yet (even on the track).

I will say if you get the MPHAS get the Millway street camber plates, it makes a world of difference.

For reference the other vehicles in my garage ride on KW's.

I did order it thru getbmwparts.com and it's sitting in my garage now waiting to be installed. I also got 15/12 mm spacers too so excited about the mini makeover.

The BMW HAS kit has been great for me and I have had it on my car since early 2017.
