I preferred SS on the M4. They we're a little slower but more consistent in North East weather range and didn't fall off as fast.
Steering felt more precise with Cup 2 over NT01 but a little less grip in corners. I'm running Cup 2s now on the R8 and they're okay-ish. If they made a set of Eagle 3Rs in my wheel size, I'd rather use those. |

One caveat… BMW basically eliminated or atleast curbed the risk of money shifting with a reflash (around 2017) where the electronic throttle works to limit the damage from a bad shift. Ask my brother-in-law how I know the above update works as intended And yes yes yes, before the local know-it-alls chime in, I do know that the transmission speed is separate from the electronic throttle but as stated above it assists in curbing the the damage through throttle regulation (and braking too I believe - similar to how the car slows itself when the speed during cruise control gets a bit too fast). I wouldn't recommend trying it obviously but the point being that later model 6MT cars seem even less susceptible to SCH issues if below Stage 2

Seriously, do not worry about it.. This topic has been beaten to death with a stick and thrown into an incinerator. You have a 1% chance of this happening across all power levels tuned or stock. This forum and all other social media accounts for probably 5% of all s55 engines ever produced. If you wanna go ahead and blow 5-6k on getting a "fix" done on a car that's not broken then go ahead its your money but I seriously wouldn't stress about it. Go out there and enjoy your CS. It's one hell of a machine that will keep you smiling wherever you drive.

My humble, maybe a bit trolling opinion is that crank hub slips more often when not using Bmw TwinPower Turbo 0w30 LL-01FE engine oil. Anything else has more lubrication and makes it slip :P

PS4s and Cup2s are both huge upgrades over the SS that are just highly dated at this point. I prefer the Cup2s because they have a fitment specifically for the car, and I have a daily. If I daily drove the CS though, I would likely go with PS4.

Cup 2 is faster than SS but terrible in water and heat cycle/grip falls off faster. They're both pretty trash tires compared to, for example, Eagle 3Rs. SS has been either as fast or a few tenths faster than PS4S. PS4S have an atypical compound mix and can be really finicky with tire pressures. The PS4S is by far the better daily driving tire but if you'll track the car SS is a legendary tire for value and really solid street tire performance. |

That makes sense - I haven't run any of them on the track yet, so I'm not qualified to give my input there
