Motul 8100 X-cess Gen2 OR Mobile 1 Synthetic

I was told that the Motul 8100 X-cess Gen2 is good "street" oil from quality base stock and with good additives to protect from daily driving abuse.

I have also been told that Mobile 1 5w30 synthetic is a great oil for the street.

I drive like a granny most of the time due to gas prices, haha. However every other drive I’ll do some redline pulls.

Thanks for the additional help!

Could talk about fluids forever!

But I've made the switch from Liqui Moly to xcess Gen 2 and haven't looked back. More consistent temps at least for my climate. Would definitely recommend. I'm running 5W 40

Glad to hear it’s working for you. I’m in Northern California if that helps any with the advice.

It's in the thread. You don't need consensus. Read the posts from Edycol

A few consistent redline pulls isn’t gonna cause your engine much heartache - any LL01 will be great. I personally use Motul Xcess Gen2 5W-40, my usage is granny on the street and at my rate probably 4-6 track days a year.

If X-Cess makes my car look like that I'm going to get it NOW!

I'm considering the same switch from Liqui Moly over to Motul 8100 X Gen2. Did you use an engine flush when you did the oil change switching brands?

Also interested in knowing whether it’s necessary to do any kind of oil flush before using another brand of oil?

Not needed. Pick one oil and stick with it to get the best results.

My 2c for Motul…Just did the oil pan gasket on my wife's 335i (N55). I've used Motul 8100 X-Cess Gen 2 5W/40 for the last 25,000 on this engine with great results. I use the same oil in my F80 M3 with zero issues.

One thing I noticed about Motul X-cess Gen2 5W40 compared to all the other 5W40s, is that it enables the engine to hold higher gears (=higher engine load) much longer going uphill. That to me is a testament to the high shear stability of this oil. Cold start gets a little rough after 3000 miles, so that's my OCI.

I made the switch from Liqui Moly to Motul Gen2. It's been 1,600 miles so far and it feels better. Might be placebo.

Motul Gen2 5W40 report with 5900 miles.
2016 F80 M3 83,000 miles. This is the third oil change with Motul at roughly 5,000 miles. Good results, just like my wife's N55 335i.
