Thoughts on this air ride M4?

Saw this M4 at a Houston meetup the other day. Was pretty nasty looking. The Air Lift systems look cool but I feel like they might be rough on performance? Anyone else running these?

Air suspension in general has gotten a lot better through the years. Not sure what system he's on strut wise but most new air suspension struts have adjustable dampening settings you can fine tune for your needs.

I have air suspension on my Tesla Model 3 right now and its worth it

I might get some backlash on this but here we go. Personally, I believe air ride is somewhat ghetto and I hate on both levels; appearance and performance. Seeing this on clapped-out Japanese cars is one thing but on elevated, well engineered German cars; that hurts. Never had air ride, never considered and never will.

Thanks for reading my hate for air suspension, lol.

Nope. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture...

imo ppl who put air ride on is ignoring performance and only for show and attention. TLG did a review on an air ride m4 before, should check it out if interested.

To each their own. I like both air rides and track look cars. Some times it can be too much when it's dropped that low and with louder color wheels. Anyways, why don't you contact the owner and ask for a ride. To see how it feels. It's your car, your money. You do what pleases you

Appreciate all the thoughts guys. It does seem like theres a bit of a riff in the force on this one in terms of how people view it. I can't honestly see how it would do anything but make performance worse or at very best keep it the same.

As far as looks of it, those, they are very much up to individual opinion. And those opinions seem to be very polar.

Completely agree - the individual tuning of modern kits is definitely miles beyond what it used to be and honestly I do think the high end kits can bring you back to pretty much equal performance. Just seems like a bit of a risk.

Glad you like your 3 kit though

Remember that airride also takes more to maintain. However, you are in TX so maintenance such as emptying water catches/draining tanks wont be as often as someone who is in a cooler area.

Did not even know that was a thing. Will have to investigate.

The f80 in this video has recently had the air ride removed and the owner went back to stock. He’s happy with his decision.

He also has an e46 with air suspension, which he also recently removed.

Air looks good when parked, but driving it is not that great. Also airing in at every start is so annoying. The pump noise, the waiting etc. not worth it.

Personally I think it looks awful and childish. Leave that air crap to the civics. You have a M try to act and look classy even if you aren’t.

Agree, You wouldn't see a track or race car with airbags, just for floss and guessing a smooth ride which is why rigs implement them.

No! This Gonad looking contraption just doesn't belong in an M3/M4. A 66 Impala? Sure.

It does look "cool", but I can not imagine the ride quality. At least he didn't do this to his car.

Air bags for me always fell in the "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" category.

I personally don't like even the looks and can only imagine how bad it drives.
