does anyone get marks from the hardtop mechanism? i have a dent on my roof and now what looks like a scratch (nothing on the rest of the car, only 2k miles) and i was curious if it could be from the retracting process

I have had BMW retractable hardtops for almost 10 years and that never happened to any of my cars.

Removing the rear head rests was my first mod.

They ride in the trunk until I have someone sitting back there (which hasn't happened yet).

I had mine coded to eliminated the speed restriction. Although I'd never go faster than 10-15 miles an hour while operating it.

My pcar allowed operation up to 29 mph's.

It's not mine, pictures from a dealer.

Is stated in the description that there has been some suspension upgrades (exactly what, I'm not sure)

GAH! How'd you do that? I looked back there but didn't see an easy way to do it. What's the secret? BTW if you need to use the pass-through to do it I don't have one (but I do have $800 )

smartTop which also eliminates the speed limit (actually it allows you to configure it). Yeah I don't usually operate the top unless I'm driving smooth and flat below 20MPH - that's a lot of weight to be moving around over potholes and such, not to mention the giant air brake.

I never coded it because that mechanical origami seems like it's just waiting to fling parts everywhere and I don't want anything can't be quickly reversed before the tow truck arrives. That said, I haven't ever had trouble with the mechanism beyond needing a little lube - my E93 had a sticky passenger release.

You're really going to like my answer here - they just pull out.

A firm tug upwards with a little wiggling, and out they come! No clips, buttons, etc. Very easy to slide back in as well.

Yea, I was toying around trying to figure it out... open the pass-thru and look up, have the vert half-open to see if there was something back there... until I just decided to give them a tug and... yea.. out they came.

The front headrests don't.... they move a little upward to accommodate taller people, but that's it.
