How low should I go.

Thinking about lowering my 2019 M4 comp via springs. Very worried about the OEM M performance carbon fibre front splitter on it. It’s low as it is and I travel around London with speed bumps, and even my local shopping supermarket has them now. How low should I go?

Do you have a front splitter and what is the recommended height front and rear in mm.

I went with the Schnitzer springs, lowers the car by around 30mm at the front and 10mm at the back. I have a front splitter also, you can see by the phot it is quite low at the front but I still get over speed bumps ok (as long as they are taken carefully, there are a few scratch marks underneath the splitter where it has scraped slightly)

You can't go wrong with Eibach Pro's tbh.
99% of speed humps cleared easily.
As it happens, I just measured the car height the other day for someone. Top of wheel arch to hub centre 35cm all round (with 12mm spacers & correctly aligned).
Front splitter clearance as photo...

I'd love to be able to drop the front but not a chance for me - I scrape the MP Splitter too much as it is on a number of humps and ramps. My stock height is 12.5cm to the bottom of the front of the splitter (and 12cm at the lowest point slightly further back) centre of hub to arch is 35cm at the rear and 38cm at the front (yuk) - all measurements are approximate but taken on a completely level surface... I guess at least the MP HAS allows you to experiment with how low you can go... For me it is accept the arch gap or lose the splitter - it's only the looks for me - I don't track & the stock handling on the latest CPs is spot on for what I want, so I'll stick with it as it is...

Don't come round my area with your car! speed bumps legally can be 10cm high and sadly around here that is what they are. So yours at around 8cm would vanish pretty quick

OK - so stock with same setup I'm at 622 & 650 - so around a 17mm drop on the front & I guess dropping the rear below stock may help a little with front clearance - giving a 3-5mm clearance over regulation installed 10cm speed bumps - wouldn't work for me though as I seem to encounter ones that must be at around 12cm and certainly some car park ramps and steep roads down onto certain road junctions are tricky as it is... So OP what are you thinking??

This is a hard choice to make. My last M4 was lowered by 35mm all round but it didn’t have the front splitter so speed bumps wasn’t a problem going over them slowly.

I don't know exactly. I think it can differ slightly car to car. Maybe look on Eibach's site?
I have no idea of my ride height beforehand, but current measurements are in my last post, so maybe measure yours for comparison?

H&r sport springs

I AM ON H&R sport springs with a PSM carbon front lip and i have cleared most speed bumps and driveways without scraping. i have scraped on a few occasions leaving gas stations and on random potholes i have encountered but so far so good. DO NOT get the Super Sport Springs that H&R offers as they are way too low and the ride quality becomes really bouncy and unstable specially at high speeds.

Car looks great, are you on the 35mm springs?

Thanks Man,

I am on the H&R Sport Springs for the F83 which are Red so I am not sure if they're the 35MM or not but they are certainly not the Super Sport Springs which are Awful. My car also has 15mm spacers in the front and 12mm in the Rear which gives it a Squared up look.

I think I’ll go that route with the spacers but was think of 15mm at the rear, do you think it would be a tight fit.

Well,

If you keep the Rear tire size to 285 you should be fine but if you decide to go with 295 the side walls aren't stretched and will be straight up and will Rub. Hope this helps.
