dunno how you figured that E92 was keeping up with it. Quite the opposite, accelerating out of corners better at least in the vid.
Gonna be impressive car with design language similar to the 1M and probably will sound similar if may be bit louder/angrier. a V6? LOL. Yeah, BMW will want to showcase their best production car technologies - with a brand new engine they have nowhere else in the range. Makes total sense.

Did you sleep through the whole S85 V10 era? Not saying that we're seeing a V6 here, but using a non-series motor is sort of the whole point of M prior to the X5M/X6M, 1M and F10 M5, the S85 probably being the most bespoke of the lot.

On the video of M135 you also hear some "farting", and this one is confirmed to be an I6.

Imo the car sounds pretty good. I only see advantages on the F80. It will for surely be faster if not same as the E9X m3, and will definitely be not a guzzler. |

I agree. So far the S65 is the best sounding so far for the 3 series M line. Lets hope the new one doesn't disappoint.

It sounds quite good, am sure it will drive great and be slightly faster than the current M3, however at this moment am loving my coupe, it looks great, drives great and sounds great. Who cares about fuel consumption, you don't buy a 4.0 V8 and then start considering fuel consumption.
I still believe that nothing beats the way a V8 sounds and it's a real pity that bmw has to go the greener way and opt for smaller engines and better fuel emissions, nevertheless an M car will always be a top notch sports vehicle no matter what. Those M guys know what they're doing.... I will stick with my current M3 coupe for a few years, anyway before this new one gets to china it will take another 3 years minimum and if it only comes in sedan version then I am not interested. |

That intake noise of the E92 is intoxicating. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the s65 engine but I'm a sucker for the I6. Fell in love with it when I was a kid and hasn't changed.
