People who sees this M3, please don't take spy shots. Do us all a favor and mug the driver, take the M3 home and take out all the camo off and check what's under the hood... Post the pics and all the details here and return the car after.

Maybe BMW will sell it in the summer of 13 as a 14 model? Being that the 335i is already out and will Be in production for more than a year by that point, it would make sense to step up production and release the new M3.
I guess I am assuming that BMW does not have any issues with the new tri turbo in line 6.? If no problems then start making them. No time like the present. |

I though about an NA inline 6 the other day. It didnt seem so impossible. You do prove a point that BMW has been downsizing engines and adding turbos, and last generation most ///M cars were NA. Now theyre mostly turbocharged. But BMW said they are really going to surprise us with this one. Yeah a big I6 wouldn't sound like the S65, and those numbers may not be remotely accurate, but 450ish hp and 3200lbs? Sign me the hell up...
Also for those non-purists, an I6 will be a lot easier to turbocharge (probably) than the S65 was(n't). |

Sounds like an inline to me and not a V.
Exhaust also sounds far better than the first videos of the car, although there is still some fartiness to tune out. |

I think I should just shut up and let BMW do their job with the new M3... The 1M turn out to be an amazing machine... So whatever ends up being, M3 will end up being a kick ass car...

I like Calmwinds' approach I just ask you get the man back to the office ASAP, with or without the car, matters not to me.
Info would be nice... Now with that being said and how the good Private Gomer Pyle used to say Surprise... Surprise, Surprise!! What will the good Doctor's surprise be in store for us fellow BMW enthusiasts?? A lot of rumors, theories and misinformation have been floating around here and else where. Our good friends in Germany are not even privy to what is going about. We can only sit idly by while big decisions are being thought up and tested at the BMW Welt, this is what troubles us most this is very upsetting to say the least!! What I wonder most is will this Bavarian sedan be the one to scoop up or will the 1M coupes' successor be everything you wanted and more??? No I do not want an M4 super coupe... or F82 I'm sure it will be nice but I always was more of a sedan man, yet this F22 M2?? coupe seems promising. I Used to own an E30 they don't get much better than that in terms of size and toss-ability. New premium cars have lost that feel hence the return of this segment in the 1M coupe and Toyota and Subies new FRS and BRZ models... possibly more to follow. I do not care about cylinder count, I want 475 to 550 Nm, six speed manual gear box, LSD, sport suspension, etc etc. Keep your safety electronics to yourself. Coupe or sedan that is the question!~~ Whether 'tis nobler in the coupe or the sedan... what shall be your fortune? F82 M, F80 M, or F22 M?? Til that time for unveiling I happily wait and will continue to drive a remarkable specimen of Bavarian history a 1996 E36 328i sport sedan 5 speed no ASC with a 3.15 LSD. |

Not liking the way it looks and sounds, I don't think this car will provide much of a performance improvement over the current model. I hope they don't fake the NA engine sound through the speakers like in M5.

Already afraid it will look better and be faster than your M3 E9X yet with lower consumption? Don't worry, at least it won't sound better than your M3 E9X.

Sedate Ultimate Driving Machine
Seems to be a trend developing with the releases of the new platforms (5, 3, M5)....larger cars, better fuel economy, incremental performance gains, engine/platform sharing, and more isolation from the road. F80 M3 is likely to continue along this path

Nice Video. Going around the track, you can hear that its a Turbo engine. Im betting BMW went with an I6 turbo setup fo sure as reported as a possibility. Im really looking forward on seeing the spec's on the next gen M3. Def going inline for the next M3/4. I want one bad

The F80 and F82 were given their own "F" codes as BMW M realized that they replaced or modified 80% of the F10 M5 so it would meet their requirements. 80% of a changed product is not the same product- they anticipated the same for the new M3/4 and requested separate internal codes for development.

I never got to beat on the e46 much, but I can say that my e92 has the best steering feel and road feedback of any car I've ever driven. That is one of the chief things that sold me on the car. |
