Personally, I never doubted there would be anything but an I6.

This is great news.
With all due respect to the S65, BMW's signature has been the inline six and their accessible halo car should have one. This is going to make me think about whether I want to keep the 1M when this beast arrives. 4 doors. More power. More fuel-efficiency. Luckily, I don't have to make any decisions for a few more years

This is all great, but the Fxx is bigger than the e92. I don't want a bigger M. I want a smaller m.

All I can say is BMW had better not f**k this up. The enthusiasts they would lose will never return. I'm glad I bought an E9x M3 when I did.
My opinion is this gonna be some bored and/or stroked out N54. Not called an N54 of course and of course turbocharged. I'm almost positive it will be 3.5 litres because it's a legendary number and has cache' with us from the M1 and first M5.

Why can't people just enjoy the ride and not bitch about things. Half of the bitching people probably never drove M or bought one. When was last time car company went backward to have less HP?

If you've looked at the technology in the modern Ms, you'll see a trend with technology being introduced in one & then perfected in the next:
This article begs to differ: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691753 Same engine as 335is = N54 Quote:

If that turns out to be truth for the next M3/M4 than it is very good news for us 1M owners too since we will have many new parts and options from factory for upgrading our N54T (which already showed capacity of up to 500 hp and more than 600 nm under the hands of tuning companies). Not that I am looking for more power but if they go with a version of N54 it will have a lot of new goodies installed for sure. I bet they would call it something else though! And I am sure the M3 will have more than quoted 450 hp.

Each to his own. I'm looking to jump out of the E60 M5, and this could be just the ticket. I need the rear seat room.
