Laptimer App

Headed to an Autocross event tomorrow and went to try out the M Laptimer app to get familiar with it and could never get it to connect. I didn't see the app listed in Idrive anywhere so I'm not sure what I'm missing. Is there a trick to get it to work? I also noticed that I never see the Spotify app when I'm connected (though music plays fine) do I need to pay for something else to get access to the BMW apps?

2015 M3, iPhone X, iOS 11.4.1 if it matters.

Are you plugged into car with a usb cable? You have app installed and open?

Edited to add: I looked at your profile to see why you had more rep points than posts and saw that you also got a SMB M3 ZHP and lots of people liked your post. Congrats! My wife's SMB M3 ZHP is currently somewhere between TT Transit at CDG (Paris) and Bremerhaven. I'm hoping it gets on the Morning Glory, scheduled to depart Bremerhave on 8/23.

So I found your post, and I seem to be missing something. When I go into Connected Drive, I have no BMW Apps section. I only see Messaging, a few other things and ConnectedDrive Store. Could I be on too old of an iDrive version? I'm taking it in Monday for an alignment and am hoping to get the software upgraded, so if this is related it'll make that request easier.

Have you created a ConnectDrive account at connecteddrive.bmwusa.com? This may be the step that's missing. I assumed that anyone trying to connect an app to their car already had a ConnectDrive account. I'm pretty sure that there won't be any ConnectDrive connection to your car if you haven't already created the account.

Yup, have a ConnectedDrive account, see my car on the web site and can control it through the Connected app as well.
