PFC 08 vs PFC 11: all-in recurring costs (rotor wear + pad wear)
I've read on older threads that the 11s are easier on the rotors but don't last as long as the 08s.
So in choosing the 11s over the 08s, you replace your rotors less often but your pads more often. 11s are $50 more than 08s for the front brakes. Net/net, are you actually saving money with the 11s? Rotors are more expensive than pads, so to have a longer replacement cycle on the rotors makes the all-in variable costs a bit better than 08s? BTW I am planning to run 11s on the front and 08s on the rear. Another benefit I've read is 11s have less squeal on the street, which is a nice bonus. |

Similar to rotors, pads are a performance item. Depending on your pace, you do not have a choice of which pad you use, similarly to how a good rotor is not optional if you are at a certain pace.
If you can use 08s and they don't get consumed at an incredibly fast rate, by all means do it. Ditto for stock rotors. |
