Two Different Sets of P4S on Tire Rack / BMW?

I've started to see two different sets of P4S on both BMW Tire Center and Tire Rack - anyone know the difference? Or am I just an idiot and missing something ?

The first set you have are off the shelf aftermarket PS4S

The second set note under the sizes and above the Style, there's OEM specific versions of the tires selected

265/30/20 M01 Mercedes (I don't remember which vehicle this is for, but not ours)
285/30/20 BMW Star Spec (I believe these are the rear G8X M tires)

Thanks a lot - I stared at them awhile too and didn't notice the Mercedes and Star spec, thanks again!

Given there is only one option for the front, do you stick with non star for the rear to match the front or buy the bmw spec rear even though it was meant for a different car?

You should not really run non star PS4S. They’re a terrible tire IMO.

Star PS4S is closer to Cup 2 in terms of compound and are much more stable for our cars. I’ve ran both and the non star SUCKED

Sorry not sure I understand star vs non-star reference.

Star spec is the term for a special version of a model of tire made for BMW and tailored more towards functioning on their car. Think: fitted suit vs off the rack

I had no idea how much the star meant.

I just got a set of PS4s. Turns out the fronts are star and the rears aren't.

To be honest I'd be all about wet weather grip as the weather is so bad in Ireland so at least my none star rears might be better in the wet

Laptime differences in the video are shocking.
