AA Midpipe/Remus Axleback Setups...Is your car loud?

For those with AA midpipe/Remus axleback setups, do you guys feel like your car is loud enough??

This entire time I was pretty happy with the sound until I swapped cars with my brother. Following behind him I realized that I could barely hear anything and was pretty disappointed...

Would adding downpipes make the car sound as aggressive as I want it to be? Aka LOUDER?

going with catless downpipes will:
1. Make your exhaust smell terrible
2. Make your car lounder
3. Make your car more powerful
4. Create highway drone

I suggest trying a different muffler setup and if you haven't done so - code out Active Sound.

I'm supper happy with my AA midpipe and ZCP muffler

Downpipes will definitely make it louder

I had AA mid and Remus axleback, it was deep sounding but not loud on the top end

All you need to do is switch to Remus midpipe which is what I did , and it’s louder (just right)

I'd say mine is pretty loud but I also have the valves unplugged and no ASD (m3 cs)

Looks like you're in OC as well. I'd suggest sticking with your setup since the exhaust laws here are getting more and more brutal. I had a straight-piped E9X and was idling at a stoplight when I got pulled over. The officer took pictures under the car on a tablet and wrote me a state ref ticket.

Any chance your brother had the valves closed when you were behind? I'm on a single midpipe/ZCP setup and it isn't loud enough to say I love it. But I love not being harassed by cops monthly, so it's sort of a trade off. Any chance you have measured decibels with valves open?

Catless would definitely make it louder. It would change a lot of the dynamic of the exhaust sound though since that cat is removed. It would sound rawer.

With open valves and burble , this setup is loud enough for most. We have it on the shop's M4 and i think its the best sounding setup.

What makes it special is not how loud it is but the perfect balance that it offers between loud/aggressive sound with a clean rasp free tone.

If you want a louder sound, i recommend switching to the REMUS race midpipe or a catless downpipe (just dont do both)

I just installed the full Remus system and it's plenty loud for me. It's definitely brought unwanted attention from ricers who want to race.

Remus + AA sounds much better. Also looks much better, but only if paired with a more aggressive rear diffuser v. OEM cf.

I trusted Justin's advice and I gotta say I remain completely satisfied with the sound quality. I don't want it any louder. Nothing more annoying than loud cars passing by in public no matter how exotic a vehicle. It's douchey. No one cares about your 3/4 series.

Thanks, again, Justin!

He doesn't care about any of that, he just wants it to be loud because he needs attention

This just goes to show how people interpret what is "Loud" or "Quiet" differently. It's all subjective.

The smell isn't too much of an issue. I'm always in here by myself anyways. Like someone mentioned above the car does lose sound at higher speeds even during WOT.

The valves were definitely open and I have not measured the sound but in comparison stock mustangs and chargers sound louder than how it does right now.

I'm not trying to make the car sound obnoxiously loud. I was just surprised to hear how quiet the car is when someone else drove it. Inside the car it sounds amazing. Like someone mentioned above it seems like I do lose most of the sound at higher speeds. I just want the car to sound as aggressive as it looks. I don't need the car to sound like a stock Mustang under WOT which u can hear 5 miles away. Just loud enough to sound good. I'm not satisfied with my current setup and I probably will put in downpipes next. Ive had BM3 and a VRSF downpipe sitting in my trunk since last Sept so I'll get to installing those and let you guys know.

It'll probably be exactly what you want, the downpipes not only improve the spool sounds of the turbo but also gives you a good amount more volume. Here are a couple videos:
