A lot of talk in this section about making big horsepower so I thought it would also be appropriate to cover the other side of the equation, e.g. putting it to the ground.
PROJECT OVERVIEW: (1) Deka Stage 2 DCT clutch upgrade (rated 1,000-1,400 nm to the crank, ordered, being made, and comes from Ukraine) ... more about this down below (2) New OEM dual mass flywheel (ordered and comes directly from BMW Germany. Not aware of an aftermarket option. No new DM flywheels in stock stateside ) (3) Remove THOR Flash to add XPH software (4) TCU tuning by Alex Roy PETuned to take advantage of 19 bar line pressure and other features unlockable by Ecutek (3) Every Powerflex bushing for a DCT F8x BMW *2 bushings front control arms non-offset caster option *2 bushings front sway bar 26.5mm *2 bushings rear sway bar 25mm *4 bushings front differential mounting plate *1 bushing rear differential mount I chose "Street" for all bushings (4) Turner Motorsports dual-mount differential plate upgrade (5) Redline DCTF & 75w140 GL5+ fluids for DCT & ///M differential (6) DCT maintenance items such as filters, drain plugs, pans, gaskets, etc. Not listed is the Wavetrac differential. Don't know enough yet, but have had great experience with the Quaife differential on the Quattro trans in the past. CURRENT SITUATION: My dual mass flywheel was destroyed last week so the DCT GS7D36SG was removed from the car yesterday. I speculate (1) high mileage wear-and-tear and (2) chronic exposure to +600 wtq as the two main culprits. This dual clutch transmission is rated at 700 nm to the crank by BMW and are also found in the F1x M5/M6s. CAR: 2016 F80 M3 DCT Base Model. Tuned for 45k miles now, lowered on coil overs for 75k miles, and running an E30 blend for 6k miles now. The dual mass flywheel was officially the 1st drivetrain part to fail for me so I'm very impressed at how durable and reliable these F8x platform cars can be, when well-maintained. The long term goal for this car is more for roll racing, 1/2 mile, and HPDEs. No interest in pursuing 1/4 mile. MODIFICATIONS: Engine: E30-40 custom tune written by Alex Roy (PETuned.com) on Ecutek software NGK 94201 spark plugs (for BMW B58) gapped to 0.022" Performance Eurowerks Crank Bolt Capture CTS Turbo Chargepipe (front) | OEM Chargepipe (rear) *CTS poor fitment Evolution Racewerks J-Pipe ARM Motorsports 3" resonated catless downpipes VRSF 3.5" Single mid-pipe Dinan axle back exhaust All new (4) o2 sensors Mahle high performance thermostat AWE Tuning front heat exchanger (to be installed) Everything else is stock (intakes, AWIC, fueling, etc.) Car dyno'd 510 whp & 601 wtq with just tune-only, on stock turbos, at low boost of 22 psi (10.8 degrees timing up top), using a stage 1 93-octane custom file back on October 12th, 2020. With the list of engine mods added since then, I would conservatively say were probably somewhere around ~530 whp & 600 wtq today. Drivetrain/Chassis/Suspension: Custom Brembo 6-piston/4-piston big brakes (380x34mm 2-piece slotted rotor fronts | 380x30mm 2-piece slotted rears) Hawk High Performance 5.0 Street Pads KW Variant 3 Coilovers (non-EDC) Fall-Line Motorsports oil cooler guard Bridgestone RE-71r 265/35/19 & 285/35/19 SUMMER Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 3+ 255/35/19 & 275/35/19 WINTER Future Classic 15mm spacers x4 wheels w/Michelins (Excluded aesthetic mods as this is Engine/Drivetrain/Exhaust/Bolton/Tuning) Will add more pictures, videos, and updates as things progress! [IMG]https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...#38;fit=bounds[/IMG] [IMG]https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...#38;fit=bounds[/IMG] DEKA | SSP | DODSON I chose to go with a Deka Stage 2 DCT Clutch upgrade because it doesn't make sense to put a Stage 3 Clutch (1400+ nm rated) into a transmission that's only rated at 700 nm crank. Pressure lines and clamping force can be addressed through software and tuning. http://dekaclutch.com/index.php?rout...product_id=141 Based in Ukraine, Deka's owner is a machinist by trade, and these clutches are being used in IROZ and Sheepey Race builds. These 2 shops are killing it in their respective areas. Many Deka clutches are also being used in F1x M5/M6s that share the same DCT as the F8x. And for the price, the Stage 2 also comes with upgraded baskets, which may not be necessary but are beefier than the OEM baskets that are cast welded and may represent a potential weak point if more torque is layered onto the car down the road. I tried to do as much research on both Dodson and SSP. Talked to everyone from Kris at SSP, Dan who is the Dodson Sales Manager, as well as local performance shops who've installed both versions of SSP, fellow enthusiasts with SSP Spec-X and Spec-R clutches installed on their upgraded turbo F8x's but could not get enough conviction to lean one way or another over Deka. Read the forum discussions, arguments, bickering as well. Nothing was conclusive one way or the other. I believe I'll be one of the first (if not the 1st) F8x here stateside to run a Deka DCT clutch and will report back once it's in the car and we're up and running.

Nice build man and nice part selection. One thing I miss about Quattro is the traction, point the car and go like hell.. I've had to adjust my ways with my car as she's tried to kill me twice lol.

Nice, I looked at this mod from Turner, let me know how the NVH transfers to drivetrain.
I just picked up a catch can and oil cooler cover from Turner. For some reason your images are not showing up only a link.

Deka @dct_clutch sent pics of my just finished Stage 2 Clutch for the BMW DCT GS7D36SG. It's currently in-transit & should arrive soon for install 😈. This clutch is comprised of 14 clutch plates, 16 friction plates, and billet clutch basket upgrade. I believe it's good for 1,000-1,400 nm torque (crank) 💪🔥 We'll look to pair it with XPH software & some transmission tuning by @pe_tuned to get the most out of the max 19 bar pressure line & clamping pressure ... ahead of "rolling anti-lag" deployment

Just waiting on a few seals before the DCT can be put back into the car (clutch already installed) then redline fluid flush for both DCT (redline DCTF) and differential (redline 75w140)
Once back on the car, the re-learn procedure + XPH software + dialing-in to commence. Hope to get her back this week.

Deka stage 2 DCT clutch & new OEM dual-mass flywheel are installed and DCT trans put back into the car. New filters, pan, and redline DCTF & 75w140 gear oil added. As well as a few more powerflex bushings specifically the front control arm, front sway, and rear sway.
All 4 phases of the full BMW ISTA relearn process was completed today, and I was told went flawlessly. My tuner is currently driving the car everyday to complete the 500km break-in period. Once that's complete, we'll flash the XHP stage 3 package. I get my work done and the car tuned at Performance Eurowerks | PETuned, here in the Midwest.

1,000 miles later ... Deka stage 2 clutch is broken in and overall pretty awesome. Car feels much faster, I feel more of the torque is being put to the ground. Replacing almost all of the bushings on the F80 chassis may also probably helped too.
We have a lot more head room to go. 1) Currently running on half bald Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 3+, doing so in sub 25F weather, and reverting back to my 93 octane tune (winter mix) 2) Also keep in mind this is without XHP installed yet. We are still running just a GTS Thor flash, so plenty more room left before reaching max potential. Lastly, below is a link to the YouTube video vlog by Sheepey Race where Alex Soto announced their partnership with Deka, formed out of the need for a reliable solution to address the failures of +\- 5 DCT clutches installed on their recent client cars.

Im debating whether or not to go with deka clutch stage 2 or ssp spec r clutch. I been trying to find something of a comparison between the 2 but unfortunately there isnt much to go on. If anybody has reviews between the 2 clutches that are in the 700whp+ range or know where i can find something like that then i thank you in advance.
