LOL, this was posted on the G8x sub-forum and many are claiming because the race was so close there must be some deceit going on and the F82 must be modded! This shows again how good the F8x was and still is.
Oh... and this is also another reminder how much better looking the F8x is over the G8x, frankly, not just the front but most every other angle. |

If you look at other published of the many test/races of the G8x, they also experienced traction issues. Once it comes out, I'd be very interested in seeing the RWD v. AWD race of the G8x. I anticipate the AWD is going to blow away the RWD, especially on launch and on wet surface.

None of this stuff will ever change my mind on which car I would rather own & drive.
I simply don't care how much better or faster the G8X may be on paper or real world. Iam certain I am not alone either. |

My take is that numbers don't quite do it for me anymore. These G8x guys don't get it. All these cars are super fast, tall gearing and barely streetable.
BMW's motto "freude am Fahren", has been increasingly lost in the new iterations. Numbers are one thing, but the experience has been getting more and more dulled with electro gizmos, more insulation, more weight. I can clearly tell you, that my next ICE and probably last ICE car, I want to try something different. Porsche, Corvette, Caddy etc. Time to give another brand a try. Even EVs... compare the Audi E-tron vs. whatever BMW has to offer. It's not close. |

100% agree on all of that. I remember the first time I saw a c7 corvette in the wild it blew my mind same with the Aston Martin vantage and many more.... there are SO many great cars out there, life is way to short to own a G8x |

The old M4 is plenty quick. Just got my second ticket in a year going over 110mph on the hwy. This is why I don’t want to tune it.
This video also confirms that it’s not just in my head that the f82 kickdown pulls so much harder in efficient mode vs sport and sport plus modes. |

M2C might be the worst offender in BMW history. If you didn’t know better, you’d think they intentionally wanted the cow udder as a design cue. I guess judging BMWs current designers... maybe they did

That's my favorite shade of green on that old M4.
New M4/M3 needs to be in darker colors to hide some of that front end. That old M3 definitely has a power upgrade from stock, factory F82 M4 won't do 12 second 1/4 mile, usually 12.5-12.6 at best. |

E90/E92 run the quarter mi @ 12.5-12.6
C/D quotes 12.2 for the quarter mi for the F80. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...e-test-review/ Some factory freaks run high 11s. https://www.bmwblog.com/2014/10/12/c...-quarter-mile/ So 12 sec for the 1/4 is entirely reasonable for the F80 being stock. Tuned stage 1s should be mid 11s to higher 11s. (11.5ish to 11.8). |

Apparently this car is a 2015. If it's the case, it is very possible it is not on a stock tune.

It could be that the stock file in the flash is not exactly OEM, but the #s that F82 put up infers that it is ‘stock like’ |

All other independent testing clearly show that the G8X is meaningfully faster than the F8X. Not recognizing that is simple denial. Disclaimer: I am not a fan of the G8X and I am breaking a 20 year streak of owning M3/4 because of it.

Fair enough, no judging here. You have always been objective. Not a G8x hater here, though I have my own personal opinions and its more wrapped around the direction of BMW and the products it puts out.
I think as you mentioned, the bigger question is the underperformance by the G8x in that video. It SHOULD be quicker. But there are factory freaks and there are factory duds. Like all products, there is a distribution of quality. But my thinking is that CarWoW was aware of the debate this would cause and would have ensured that the F8x was stock. This was staged and unless they did this to get views, which is very misleading and speaks to their integrity, I would have no real reason to suspect foul play. Quote:
