Ilumanated Seat Emblem/Badge
Can some one help me out? Looking for the part# and a DIY on how to remove the Front seat badges. Mines have some cracks and visible wear.

and from what I can remember, the dealer had to remove the entire seat and remove the leather to gain access to the emblem. Not sure this would be a user friendly DIY

Maybe if you looked for "illuminated" seat emblem, instead of "Ilumanated" seat emblem, you could find it.

Mine has cracks in it like any other M3 i've seen. If that's the case, i'll just let it be. Not worth them ripping up my interior/seats for some silly emblem.

I like the new black one - wish my 2017 had that and the new LEDs.

I replaced mine under warranty, but it was more of a courtesy. I don't think they will just keep replacing this.
I had a dashcam faced forward when I got mine replaced. FYI you don't need to remove the whole seat. If you're good with DIY stuff, it should be pretty simple to figure out. Clear bra goes a LONG WAY in protecting your badge. I did this as soon as it got replaced. I recommend you do the same. Just go to a local clear bra shop, give them a few bucks for some some scraps, and install it yourself. It's easy. Video: I tried to quickly edit out the useless stuff. Feel free to scrub through. I know this isn't a "DIY tutorial". Though hopefully it shows some perspective and help some people get started. Last edited by Ever.; 06-07-2017 at 12:38 AM.. |

Had mine done about 6 months ago. The rep told me that would have to remove the whole seat to replace. When I got it back I couldn't tell a difference in seat fitment at all. Hasn't cracked since.

I wouldn't be surprised if some techs did take the seat out though. |

Constant cycle of heat and cold can definitely easily affect how it will wear. It's an easy 45 degrees celsius where I live. That's easily several degrees hotter inside your car if you happen to park outside when the sun is out. Since the clear bra is effectively "glued" to the badge with adhesive, it'll help hold things together, and definitely help protect from wear, whether from your clothes or temperature. The bigger cracks tend to appear towards the edge, which is where you'd expect them to be. Hairline cracks everywhere else. I would make sure the bra covers it all the way to the edge, wrap it all the way around as close as you can. It takes 5 minutes to stencil and apply with a steady hand. Mine cracked a few months after delivery. Since the clear bra, it's been solid. Many people have done this on the other threads. DIY Seat Emblem Upgrade
So I went to the dealer and they pretty much told me I was shit out of luck trying to get these changed under warranty. They said it is a trim piece and not mechanical (my M4 is a 2017, so still under warranty). So I said fuck it and went on to getbmwparts.com and order them. Went on YouTube and watched Kies DIY video, super easy. Took me like 10 mins.

I wonder if the dealer would provide the parts under warranty, but allow me to install them myself...
