They really shouldn't let people test drive a Porsche

This is the 991.1 version, last of the naturally aspirated, and yes it feels “slower” than our turbo cars. At 3000-4000 rpm you’re waiting for something to happen and nothing does, but at 5500 rpm it comes alive all the way up to the 7800 redline. The exhaust note on these is absolutely intoxicating. It was like I took a hit of crack and I couldn’t leave the dealership until the car was mine.

This was the other car I really wanted back in 2014-15 when I bought my M4, but I really couldn’t afford one, nor even find one. This is pretty much the exact build I ran probably a hundred times on the Porsche configurator. Lava orange, aerocup kit, manual, PASM, etc. This one has a few extras I wouldn’t have ordered like moonroof and special interior details to bring it to a $147K MSRP. My dream builds usually ended up around $135K.

More details to come, but for now you’ll have to excuse me since I need to go drive my slow Porsche.

If it is the one at Porsche of Chandler? It is perfect except for those painted air vents.

Haha yeah that’s the one but I like the orange vents. Great build I think, but condition is not perfect. Front bumper was peppered a bit and tiny dent left rear wheel well. Definitely a car that was enjoyed, as will I.

Biggest surprise to me was that at 6’4” 295lbs, I have soo much room in the driver seat even with a helmet on.

Gorgeous car and great choice! I like Orange and the GTS with aero . . . does not get much better for street and with a back seat.

I'm amused at the mental image of you showing up at the dealership with your helmet just to see if you'd fit in the car with it on

Congrats on getting the last n/a flat-6 non-GT 911. You sound like a track rat so you might as well start calling around for GT3 allocations now. after getting bit by that Porsche track bug, you'll probably be itching to upgrade in 6-12 months

Beautiful car OP, I had a 2015 GTS at one point as well. I love Lava orange. Also, I think when you have either the Aerokit Cup or ducktail, the larger painted air vents are standard (vs. the black ones that come with the non-tailed GTSs). Something to do with the difference in aero I believe. Either way, they look great and I'm a big fan of the Aerokit.

Lmao this is so accurate it hurts. I know myself well enough now to stay away from test driving certain cars.

Congrats and enjoy in good health!

Amazing car congrats! Are the clear tail lights standard or an option? Not sure I like the look of them but it's a small detail on an amazing machine.

Holy shit great find man. Love the aero kit that thing looks sick. First mod I did when I got my S was add a AWE switchpath. Your GTS will sound like a cup car with the valves open. A must add imo.

I have both a F80 and a 991.1 and I love my F80 as a DD but the 911 is just sublime. For sheer smiles and thrill factor there's nothing like taking that flat 6 to redline esp with a proper exhaust. Enjoy in good health.

Congrats, car looks awesome.

I’d be curious to know the real end to end costs of tracking a 911, don’t be a stranger, come back to give us a report in a few months.

Oh yeah, I'll stick around. I'm still a BMW guy at heart, after all I still have my E36 race car which I'm in love with and race W2W. In a weird way, the 911 GTS is closer to the E36 race car than the M4 was. Brake, turn in, then immediately back on the gas and the rear end just bites on both the E36 and GTS. I did a couple tight turns tooling around with the GTS, even a 1-2 shift while turning and it just sticks. If you did that in the M4 you'd be wheeling it big time.

My years of tracking and racing has taught me that high corner exit speed is the most important attribute of a good track car. I think Porsche has something here.

As far as I know, the guy ordered the white tail lights from factory. I'll get some pictures of the gawdy interior sometime for you guys.

Yeah, Agree. I started racing 911s, a 911 SC, back around 84/85 when 17 and raced them through about 2008.

Those saying Porsches don't handle well or are handicapped because of the rear engine layout either don't have any experience in them or have no car control skills. 911 platform is a dream to drive for the exact reasons you just mentioned and why they have always been at or near the top of their race classes since the 70s. The modern 911s turn in very well now removing the need for trail braking to get the air cooled's to turn, but again we are talking about basic care control skills and car that carries the most speed out of corners for that all important speed down long straights.
