Did BMW fit a particulate filter in the exhaust of any year F8x?
I had a 2016 M3 with an MPE which I loved the sound of. (Most of the time.) I'd like to pick up an F8x and would want to avoid any years with one installed if any. The reason I'm asking is I recently saw a '20 M4 with an MPE installed and it sounded very quiet. Not at all like my 16.

I believe 2019 onwards they installed it on the f82. Is there any way to remove it?

Not aware of any US F8x having a particulate filter - as far as I know, those were only fitted on diesels and non-US cars.. My 2015 F80 is quiet after the wastegates close on cold-start, but is loud in Sport/Sport+ where the muffler bypass is open. And even louder now that I have an AA midpipe and no secondary catalysts or resonator.

Not for North American spec cars. ECE spec cars got them sometime in 2018 or 2019.

Unrelated, but US spec cars have charcoal filter on top of engine air filter. EU cars doesn't have that.
Removing that charcoal filter improves throttle response by tiny bit and you'll hear whooshing intake sound little bit more. |
