Sorry, but there is no way one can make that affirmation without actual testing for different widths of a particular tire. In some instances, wider tires can indeed bring more traction.

However, as you correctly stated, going with a grippier compound will likely get you more benefit.

Would going to a real sticky compound off the track be a serious compromise?. I feel like that one night driving home on a cold rainy summer night could very well offset all the fun on the warm dry days and then some.

The most serious compromise would be to our wallet. Sticky compound tires tend to wear more quickly. Everything is a trade-off.

Agreed. It is all about compromises. I decided to go the route of wider PSS instead of grippier tires to preserve more wet weather capability; and even then, the wider PSS and not quite as good in the wet.

Maybe. I have the 6MT and also the vert. Not sure if it's the weight, or the 6MT, or my driving but I have no trouble finding the line between hooking up and sliding around. Should point out that when I'm doing more aggressive driving, I'm almost always top down. Puts the extra vert weight right over the back axel and lowers the center of gravity also. Get a little bit more shimmy when you do that but it's mild and otherwise the weight distribution is superior to top up.

I bet the vert with 6MT gets awesome traction, with that much torque I bet your getting almost full traction because of the added weight. No point in having more power of you can't put down what you have.

This is my first car ever that I felt as if I needed to LOWER power, mostly in gears 1-2.

I have not even enjoyed the M in anything over 65 degrees, I can only imagine how awesome traction will become in 85-100 degree weather. Like I said, I can pin 1st from 5mph in Efficient and Sport and basically get it to hook. I am at 4500ft and only have access to 91, I'm for sure not making as much power as you sea level/93oct guys. I can't launch it consistently from a dig, and that honestly is the only thing that pisses me off

I recently bought some 285/40R18 Nitto 555Rs for summer, it's been too cold and rainy to mount them on, but I will as soon as I get a chance. The things I do for traction, driving on drag radials that last from 8-10k miles so I can get this car to hook.
