On that note does anyone know if USMillWorks have a setup that works on the M4 - think I saw a pic with one installed but their site does not seem to specify and I have yet to hear back from them on it?
Guess it was actually the F32 I saw on their home page - still waiting a response from them re M4 application.
Reminds me of people who where their baseball cap off center.

Yep - more I look at this setup the less I like it. Here is another alternative for a center mount which is looking a der possibility to me:
http://skenedesign.com/FPBracket/index.shtml

And this is another motorized hide-away plate similar I guess to the hidetheplate.com version:

There are a bunch of addl options out there but I think am gravitating towards either Grussgott's magnet idea or the skenedesign

As promised, here's the flip plate I had installed. Not even noticeable when it's retracted

My guess is it will never happen due to variance in state laws ... all it would take is one state to specify that the plate must be affixed to the bumper and showing at all times ... and my guess is there's more than 1 already.

Not noticeable at all retracted. 100% winner! If you ask me this is the Steven Hawking solution (the plate may or may not be there anyway ;-)

It's like $37 watch and $3000 watch different.

plate

I have never run a front plate on any car I have ever owned, and yes, it is illegal in MA.

Even the couple instances that I have been pulled over, they never noticed that I don't have a front plate. (They approach car from behind anyway). And again, it's not an excuse to pull you over since usually they are approaching from behind. If they are approaching from the front, and they intend on pulling you over, there was a reason they were looking at you BEFORE they noticed no plate. So focus on that instead... ie- not driving like a jackass, not having a ghetto drug dealer looking car, etc.

I'm sure Alekshop in NorCal or EAS in SoCal - that's who I'd call first anyway

Illegal here, but I'd rather pay the fine. Been stopped several times, never been given a ticket for it though.

Thanks a million!

In the four years of not having a front plate on my E90 M3, I got four tickets. In MD it is $75 for no front plate infractions. I don't care about the fines. Paid it and kept driving. If I got 3 per year I may reconsider it. Otherwise, Eff' the goddamn state of MD. They need the money anyways for their welfare residents.

Installed my front plate with the tow hook assembly from http://www.usmillworks.com/ last night.

Does it look ugly...YES

Was it a quality product, definitely.

It will be easy to reverse should I decide to do so and will be super easy to remove for track use (real tow hook installed).

First time I have had a front plate on my main performance car in a LONG time, but the revenue grabbing uniformed are closing in here.

If I can't stand the look after a while , I will just have to put money aside for there tickets

we Las Vegas residents do not have to have a front license plate.
I just have one with a custom picture.
