Tire pressure relief valves
I have no experience with these but am curious why they don't seem to be more common place at HPDE.
Say for example we want the psi ceiling to be 34 hot, why not just get release valves that blow off anything more than that as the tires come to temperature? Seems like a logical and easy way to get to a tire psi destination rather than all the monkeying we do at the track. Any thoughts? |

Really is genius
https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...p?Product=3336 I suspect the lack of popularity is because you have to drill/tap the wheel. But man, once that's taken care of, these would be sweet |

I might try these on my track wheels.
We have a machine shop at work and I don’t run TPMS. Quote:

Go for it!
Beyond the initial install, looks like there's some trial and error to getting them dialed in where you want them, but it sure is a nifty idea https://www.longacreracing.com/techn...Setting%20Tips |

I used nitrogen for years. It was very convenient for me. I had a bottle on a trolley, could move that around to pump up tires and spares. Also when doing rallies, crew could meet me on the side of the road and not need a compressor etc. I did occasionally use air though
I noticed zero difference in tyre pressure behaviour. |

I'm not so sure it's a good idea although on the surface it does sound pretty good. There's so many variables that influence tire pressure - some are static and some are variable. I'd imagine curbing not being very kind to a system like that.
I use nitrogen because I got that dealership scam "NitroFill" included with my Audi. Difference is negligible - I wouldn't waste my time unless you were fighting for every gram of weight. The pressure/temperature plot isn't really that different from air - it's marginally better at best. YMMV |

You have me thinking, what is the response time of the pressure relief.
I would hate to hit a wall on the track because I nailed a curb or hole, which I occasionally do on the track. Also, what happens on Turtles and Gators. No live Turtles or Gators will be hurt, just a track term. Unless the turtle is crossing the track at MSRH, then they do that with little success. Quote:
